I just tried to post an article from Politico on this site and after wasting my time putting together an excerpt, the URL, a comment, etc., I clicked "Post" and ...... oops! ....... I get a message saying the source is banned or censored or whatever.

Better luck next time, I guess.

If Politico's material is copyright (and it is), they can legally put restrictions on re-transmission of that content (subject to fair use laws, etc.). Many outlets put few restrictions (credit, limits on amount), some are darn near absolute. FR has already spent plenty of legal fees on this stuff, and respects copyright assertion when appropriate.

It would have been helpful if the error message said something like that site's material is copyrighted. Instead, the error message only says the source site is banned, blocked, or similar.

BTW, JimRob DOES prohibit postings from certain sites. Some would be obvious to avoid (e.g. anything associated with StormFront or actual Nazi-sympathetic operations, porno sites, etc.). I think Infowars is on the edge, due to a spotty track record on accuracy, though links to it from other stories are regular. “Q” related stuff is allowed, but segregated to prevent distractions. Jim’s house, Jim’s rules.
