AUSTIN (KXAN) — Beatrix Jackman was nearly speechless.
“I don’t even know what to say.”
Her mask fell off because she was smiling so much over her gift — one she rightfully earned.

Jackman, 19, is officially an Eagle Scout as a member of Scouts BSA Troop 2019. She received her Eagle award Thursday morning outside her home in north central Austin. Capitol Area Council’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations Charles Mead surprised her and her mom Julie Ziegelman with the medal and certificate.
“I’m so happy,” Jackman said.
This achievement and ranking is one of many along her journey.
Jackman is a transgender woman. She was confident enough to tell her troop in middle school she identified as female shortly after achieving her Life ranking. The initial reception wasn’t warm.
“Their response was that I could either keep presenting as male there, I could do lone Scouting, or I could quit,” she said.
She chose the latter, leaving Scouting for a while but decided to return when news of transgender boys being allowed in circulated. However, she had to wait until transgender girls were allowed in 2019.
“Why come back? It was important for me to finish. It was important for me to blaze this path so others could follow,” Jackman said.
Through all the loops and hurdles, she is now part of the Capitol Area Council’s inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts. A goal that unfortunately bears a regret.
“The biggest thing I regret is that my grandma died in June and missed being here to see me become an Eagle,” Jackman said. “But, she was so proud of me and knew I would succeed.”

Another puff piece about “transsexuals”, and given the details here, it is promoted as a major step forward for “LGBT” types in achieving the highest award one can get in the organization formerly known as the Boy Scouts. If I recall correctly, they officially changed their name to just Scouts so as not to imply that they are or were an organization for boys.

I’m Eagle Scout Class of ‘63, and this makes me puke. At 70, I still carry my laminated ID card, and am proud of what I did, but this is sickening.
This is so sad in so many ways. So far from “Morally straight”. Dad told me that one reason he was so involved in our troop was to make sure that the “homos” were not involved with us. I thanked him for that.
The worst thing that happened to the Boy Scouts was accepting corporate funding. It was only a matter of time after that before Scouting was being dictated to out of political correctness.

You must finish your Eagle Scout project and have earned all relevant badges etc. by your eighteenth birthday. The board of review can be done after 18. I have a friend who was 17 when he finished his requirements but couldn’t have his review board until two years later because he had joined the Navy in the meantime. Theoretically there is no time limit on the board of review, or there hadn’t been anyway.

After graduating college in ‘71, I went to work for the BSA as a Professional Scouter in Buffalo/Niagara Falls, and Dir of PR for Dade/Broward/Monroe Ctys, to pay back for the 9-10 wonderful yrs I had as a kid (Cubs, Webelos, Scouts, Explorers) and young man.
The business shit hit in 1972, and it became a corp-controlled business, with fake packs/troops/posts and NUMBERS. The whole BSA was crooked and receiving corp money to grow fake numbers, just as many businesses do.
I saw it happen gradually, first-hand.
After 2yrs in Buffalo/The Falls and 5yrs in Miami, I quit, and went back to the marketing world in Midtown Manhattan.
HE is severely mentally ill, but would could as a Boy Scout if admitted he was a boy.
