A 115-year-old Confederate monument that was the subject of protests in Alabama this year was removed from outside a county courthouse early Friday.
News outlets reported that a small group of onlookers cheered at the Madison County Courthouse in Huntsville as crews took away the stone memorial, which was topped by the likeness of a soldier, in pieces. Music blasted during part of the work.
Im speechless, literally speechless. Its an amazing time for our culture and for people of all colors. Im excited that Im able to watch this event happen during this time, said Joretha Wright. [ ]
Madison County Commissioner JesHenry Malone, in a statement, said the county finally took action after a state commission created in 2017 to protect historic monuments failed to respond in a timely way to the commissions request to remove the memorial.

Thank You, Nikki Haley.
Stalinist revisionist history
What does Nimrata Randhawa have to do with Alabama? She’s from South Carolina.
Some history on this statue....it wasn’t erected in the 20-year period after the war. This is true for probably 90 percent of the memorials and statues that exist today.
It was 1905, during a revival period over the entire state that the Democratic Party took advantage of local feelings (most of the participants were approaching mid-60s to mid-70s). Around the whole state, there’s probably over forty of these statues that are erected from 1900 to 1912.
Cost of the statue? Covered by the Daughters of the Confederacy.
So to the more curious piece of history. Around the mid-1960s...the statue was taken down as the new courthouse was being built. This was safely taken down, but put into a unsafe location at the site, and accidentally crushed/damaged by the construction company.
The DAR folks sued the company and forced them to pay for a new statue (so this is not the original one from 1905).
So, did they do this legally?
I hate removing everything, but much better its legal rather than just reckless vandalism.
The county will have to pay a fine to the state.
The Cultural Revolution continues to destroy the Four Olds.
Does not look like it was done legally. Not that it matters to Democrats such as JesHenry Malone.
She got this ball rolling.
I knew when she did it, it wouldn’t stop.
And it won’t stop with just Confederate, either.
I like IGNORANCE - Im so proud to be part of this moment!
Cancel culture rears its ugly head once again.
They removed a statue of songwriter Stephen Foster from Pittsburgh, which ticked me off, since he wrote about blacks, and there was one included on the statue. They are insane. Now, they are going after Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, Feinstein (!). They will not stop. When or if they get complete power, it will be living people they “remove”.
Nikki started this $h!t.
“Literally speechless” she said
