Very interesting. Did a lot of people wear masks in 1918-1919? One thing is people often died just a day or two after getting symptoms. Or worse, healthy young people -- those with the strongest immune systems -- would go to bed healthy and never wake up.

...death 1-2 days after getting symptoms seems pretty fast, maybe systemic inflammatory response to the virus or bateria, not the pathogen itself.
