US President Donald Trump has a Chinese bank account and spent years pursuing business projects in the country, the New York Times has reported.
The account is controlled by Trump International Hotels Management and paid local taxes between 2013 and 2015.
It was set up "to explore the potential for hotel deals in Asia", according to a Trump spokesman.
Mr Trump has been critical of US firms doing business in China and sparked a trade war between the two countries.
The NY Times revealed the account after obtaining Mr Trump's tax records, which included both personal and company financial details.

The guy develops hotels. He did that up until 2015.
So what? It tells me he got a taste of what its like to do business in China.
Is this all they have?
Pathetic, MSM! This is your response to Sleazy Joe?
Trump is criticizing companies that export jobs and manufacturing to China. That does not apply to building a hotel in China. It’s like saying hilton should relocate all it’s worldwide hotels to USA, which doing so would make no sense. This shows Dems are completely unable to to think critically.
The 25 year old yenta sluts at the NYT who call themselves writers don't understand about this sort of stuff they just know how to smear POTUS with innuendos.
I expect that this was planned to be published sometime after the debate so that PDJT could not respond to it during the debate. The Hunter laptop reveal has forced them to drop it earlier. Just the the Billy Bush tape was dropped early to take Hillary’s email investigation out of the news.
Maybe these dolts in the media need a lesson on manufacturing vs service industry.
POTUS has a lot of hotels here in the US too providing jobs. Listen, Trump has been on China’s ass about their unfair trade practices YEARS before he ran for office.
Yes this is their response.
Hmmm taking bribes and peddling power with TAX PAYERS MONEY and THEIR JOBS, is a bit different than owning a hotel in China and therefore having a bank account there.
So the Slimes wants to play the offshore bank account game? LOL!
If you have are doing business or trying to do business in any big way in a foreign country the F'ing BUSINESS needs a bank account in that country to do business in that country's currency.
Let's say you are an Italian national, trying to do business in the USA. You are not going around paying people in Euros. You will have to transfer Euros to a US based bank, converting the Euros to USD.
Now it seems that Trump's BUSINESS had some earned income on which it had to pay taxes in China. I'm pretty sure that income came due in Yuan, not USD - more than pretty sure. It would be helpful to have a bank account in China to pay that bill.
Lastly, the F'ing NY Times is in receipt of stolen property. They are committing an illegal act. How do they know they have all of Trump's personal and business taxes? And what makes them qualified to evaluate and even able to understand them. These F'ing loser write at a sixth grade level for a living. They don't know jack about business.
The deep state runs deep. The IRS needs to be cleared of F'ing Democrats, Socialists and Commies. The people at the NY Times related to this story need to be locked up.
I’d love to have a choice available between a US and Chinese made item. I’d pay a slight premium for the US made one. The trouble is like yesterday when I bought a small non stick frying pan was everything I looked at was made in China. I did buy a couple of dish ware items from Corning which were US made so there was that at least.
Yeah...it’s an account. A number in a computer with his name against it. Big deal.
...I suppose there’s still time to roll out another sexual accuser.
Any bets? ;p
Chinas largest bank will retain a toehold at Trump Tower as it
relocates the bulk of its New York City offices to Sixth Avenue.
The Industrial & Commercial Bank of China the largest lender
by assets in China and, for that matter, the world will retain
one floor for executive offices in the building owned by President
Trumps family, Bloomberg News reported.
ICBC is the fourth-largest tenant in Trump Tower. With its lease
set to expire in October, the bank is planning to withdraw most
of its operations including a bank branch from the building.

So what?
Indeed. The IRS reporting rules on out-of-country bank accounts are very strict. Big whoop.
Aye, there's the rub. With the lower labor costs, subsidized materials costs, and manipulated currency exchanges, you would more likely have a 100% premium for a U.S. made commodity good, and most people wouldn't pay that much more.
Fake Thursday Bolshevik debate talking points.
True. I don’t know exactly where my cutoff point would be but for an equal quality item its difficult to pay double. What would your strategy be?
Everyone knows President Trump was “friendly” with Xi before he let loose the virus.
WHAT’S THE SURPRISE HERE???
