I have had a GPS try to take me down 2 rut pasture roads. While I don't necessarily mind that, I doubt the landowner would be amused.

THIS mess is another reason WHY I WOULD NEVER DEPEND ON GPS. Give me a map & my good sense after driving over a million miles.
A couple years back my wife and did a jeep tour over Black Bear Pass into Telluride. That was definitely a cool thing to do although my wife will say different.

A stolen vehicle goes off a monster cliff!! not straight down ... into a federal (?)wilderness area;driver survives.

There are mule team service that do this work! But too much snow for the critters.
The helicopter crew takes one passenger, he was it.
He meets them on the road and has to give then a check before starting.
This was about 20 years ago and the check was ???$10,000.
