Tom Douglas still marvels at how quickly everything went south.
We were having a really good start of February, said the veteran Seattle chef and restaurateur.
He was set to sign a lease on a new space late in the month, which would have been his 14th restaurant overall. Mr. Douglas and his partners also own concession and catering businesses, a line of spices and sauces, and a cooking school.

The coronavirus outbreak was preceded by trouble at Boeing, Washingtons largest private employer, and followed by protests for racial justice and police reform that culminated with the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, an area of a Seattle neighborhood taken over by protesters following conflicts with law enforcement in June.
People ask, Why dont you take the boards off the windows? said Jean Nakayama, the owner of Maneki, Seattles oldest Japanese restaurant. Her response: Lets wait until after the election to see what happens.

Maybe they will have “riot tours” available with a tourist bus driving through the CHAZ ruins and other “revolutionary” sites. :-)
What a beautiful city—too bad the leftist zombies have turned it into a hate-fest.
The chef apparently is an economic nitwit...his businesses deserve to fail.
despite his left-leaning politics, is a damn good chef. Hes considered the father of Northwest cuisine, and hes a James Beard Award recipient. How's all that working out for him now?Say what you want about the guys person, but the man can COOK.
They ran out the fash, and they took their cash with them. Stew in your own crap, libs.
“And over here on your Left is the historic site known as CHAZhenge.”
Not very damned well. And I doubt it would be even if his politics swung to the right.
The News Cycle is doing that? Wow, who knew? I thought it was rioters and looters and general all-around leftist thugs. You learn something every day.
LOL!
“Why feel sorry for them?”
I can understand their problem, but it’s not C-19. It’s Inslee and all those that buy into the overused rules to a recovery that is politically induced and destined for failure.
For those of you who do not know, the entire state is being controlled by one county, King, and a piece of Pierce County for every voting process. How they go, ends the discussion. They have more than the rest of the state combined in voting and the are as liberal as he((. Households in King County, WA, have a median annual income of $95,009, which is more than the median annual income of $61,937 across the entire United States. And it continues to grow as this is in comparison to a median income of $89,675 in 2017, which represents a 5.95% annual growth. An example of the liberal horde that lives there is Bill Gates.
So it’s not the restaurant people that are getting hammered by business, it’s the liberal government that is using it’s Power to destroy the income. C-19 is a tool, not the problem.

“The News Cycle Is Crushing Seattles Vibrant Restaurant Scene”
What a moronic headline! The “news cycle” is crushing the restaurants??
How about the thugs, rioters, looters, drugged out bums, all egged on by putrid rags like the Slimes, crushing the restaurant scene.
