Despite his bluster Saddam had a pipsqueak military. That could have been accomplished by any decently competent CIC.

Bush will be known in history as “the Conqueror of Baghdad”? Nope, he’ll be known as the fool who on the basis of lies got us into that unjustified war that killed 6000 of our best young people, 100,000 Iraqis, destroyed much of their country, and that gave Iran entree into Baghdad.

I would suggest that ‘history’ (at least in the West) no longer works that way. It’s all about human rights and populations being free to migrate where they will without undue hindrance. This ruler conquering that country is frowned upon. You might be right that Iraqi’s or Muslims may record it as such.

That is not impossible if a Western-style democracy is established in Iraq. But more likely, one won't be, and he'll just be remembered as somebody who got us into a mess because he didn't know what he was doing.
