Amy Coney Barrett apologized Tuesday for referring to sexual orientation as a "preference" during the second day of her Supreme Court confirmation hearing.
"I certainly didn't mean and would never mean to use a term that would cause any offense to the LGBTQ community," Barrett said, after questioning by Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii). "So, if I did, I greatly apologize for that. I simply meant to be referring to Obergefell's ruling with respect to same-sex marriage."

If shes just referring to it as it was said in a court case, thats the explanation.
And for many folks it is a choice, an explicit, conscious choice. As these same people,have told us, gender is fluid.

Pedophilia is a “sexual orientation”... You want to tick the lefties off? Get them defending pedophiles! When it comes to “marriage equality” ask them why pedophiles should not be able to marry children. The average person will not want to defend pedophiles. BUT, they have to describe why and that is where everything falls apart. They can’t use any “moral” code. It is amazing the twists and turns they go through. Sexual orientation applies to pedophiles! There is no need to apologize. It is an abomination.

Kamala Harris looked like Morticia from The Addams Family as she snarked her way through her attack questions. I did not watch all day but Kamala was the only Senator I saw who was rude and interrupting.
Kamala even testified virtually from her office in the same building. Covid, you know. She had three huge American flags behind her. I wonder if they were in her office before she was the VP nominee.

This may have slipped by her until it was too late. In any event, I will bet she has read many opinions that used the term 'sexual preference" rather than "orientation" and that could have been her response.
If it were left solely to "orientation", those who enjoyed "same sex" sex wouldn't dress in "same sex" attire. Further, it is obvious a bi-sexual is not "oriented" one way or the other but has a range of preference.
Apologizing to evil is counterproductive.

I heard recently the total of Americans who are homosexual is roughly 2%. Another amount has tried something once (not specified, maybe Katy Perry’s song I Kissed a Girl is a clue.)
So why do all of the 98% have to have TV ads, family show plots on TV, special rights to LGBTQ, careful wording to avoid a mistake in the dozens of alleged genders when we talk and all this BS? For 2%?
