More than 750 people had been evacuated from the area near the Piast Canal outside the town of Swinoujscie where the Tallboy bomb used by Britain's Royal Air Force (RAF) was found. It weighed nearly 12,000 lbs, including almost 5,300 lbs of explosive.
"The deflagration process turned into detonation. The object can be considered as neutralized, it will not pose any more threat," Second-Lieutenant Grzegorz Lewandowski, the spokesman of the 8th Coastal Defense Flotilla, was quoted as saying by state-run news agency PAP.
"All mine divers were outside the danger zone."

Any fishermen drag a net through the area afterwards?
Oops. Search Fail
Yeah, I heard they netted about 400 lbs. of sushi.
More like chum after that explosion.
After it detonated, I guess not!
What a bunch of bs spin
I wonder what the RAF was trying to hit in Poland. Those Tallboys were massive bombs. A couple hits with those took out the Bismark’s sister ship the Tirpitz.
Hard to wrap my arms around the fact it was still viable in the water for 75 years.
A German “pocket battleship” was being repaired there.
The Soviets actually moved the entire nation of Poland westward, giving them a huge chunk of Eastern Germany.
Yep, known as “Swinemüde” at the time.
Nbc of course. The video took me to a Joe Biden add. Then followed to a nbc news article about how Trump words will hurt judge Barrett
The divers bored a hole in the casing and set it up to burn (deflagration). It burned for a bit then detonated. You get that with 75 year old high explosives, the stabilizers come out of the mix.
“The Piast Canal connects the Baltic Sea with the Oder River on Poland’s border with Germany. The bomb was dropped by the RAF in 1945 in an attack on the German cruiser Lutzow.”
Did Sean Hannity report on this BOMB-SHELL?
Asking for a friend.
Bigger than a Daisy Cutter. Any video?
A daisy cutter weighs 15,000 pounds.
A Daisy Cutter is an air-pressure bomb that is detonated in the air if there is a radio-controlled detonator on it. It normally detonates when its probe nose touches the ground.
I think the MOAB is detonated more in the air, creating a downward, crushing force which spreads outward as it goes down, while the DC is a pressure bomb that goes out in a 900 foot horizontal radius smashing, quashing, and destroying everything in its explosive radius.
Anyway, it’s Rachel Corrie pancake time.
