Yeah. In barely six weeks, we’ve lost Tom Seaver, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson, Whitey Ford, and now Joe Morgan.

I loved Joe’s elbow twitch as he was waiting for the ball to come from the pitcher.

RIP

Those Lumber Company/Big Red Machine battles of the 70’s were epic. He was a class act.

Growing up in the Pittsburgh area, Cincinnati was probably the Pirate's biggest rival in the 70s. Nonetheless they had some great players, and I had a lot of respect for Joe Morgan.

RIP

Joe was one of the most exciting MLB players in the 1970s. As a Reds fan, I can’t begin to say how much joy I had watching him play. He was a vital cog in the vaunted Big Red Machine. The 1975-76 Reds were some of the greatest teams in baseball history.

RIP, I have his card from about 1979 when he was one of the elder statesmen of baseball by about that time.

Very good broadcast announcer.

77? What did he die of?

On a bit of a related topic, I follow a vintage ballparks page on Facebook and it seems that Crosley Field was that really decent place to go watch a ballgame back when the Reds played there until about 1970. Seems like a shame it had to be retired because (among other things) the AFL wanted a new place (Riverfront) to be promised before the Bengals franchise was granted. Anyone here have memories of the old ballpark?

One of my favorite Joe Morgan moments was when he was a S.F. Giant.
His home run in the last game of the 1982 season eliminated the Dodgers from the division race. He won the 1982 Willie Mac Award for his spirit and leadership.
R.I.P. Joe Morgan.

One of the most exciting ball players I ever saw. Back when baseball was so much more than a strikeout or a home run.

One of my favorites! Having grown up in the Cincy area (Mason, OH), I have been a Reds fan all my life.

RIP, Joe!

Morgan was a great player, and I am sure an upstanding person as well.... But the last time I heard him do commentating for a game, he was making some very overt Left wing political comments
