Insufficient information to make an assessment. How far back on the property was the mans house? You have to travel over more than an acre of woodlands to get to my house from the nearest street. I won’t be able to make a determination as to your identity until your right up on my house. I often answer the door with a side arm but have never had the occasion to draw down on someone. When you’re in rural parts of any state, you should be prepared to identify yourself. The Census worker is a sworn agent of the federal government. They may not like the idea of being in the line of fire, but a stranger on our property in these parts isn’t going to be met unarmed.

If you enter someone’s property, and they yell at you to leave ... you stay there until they go inside and come back with a rifle? I would think you would leave when they told you to leave.

The census dude was probably inputting his data and leaving at the same time. They are inputting info on iphones, part of that info requires gps coordinates close to the property[front door] if possible.
