This group has stolen pretty much every song they ever played, and got away with it.

And every song they stole they made a thousand times better.

No one was forced to buy their albums or see them.

many went to court and were settled.

musicasns that hadn’t seen a nickel in forever actually made a few bucks suing Zep

I’ve heard the alleged riff that they say he stole for Stairway

it’s a ####ing joke.

If you haven’t listened to it, you shouldn’t comment on it yet.

So Stairway, Rock n Roll, Black Dog and so many more were just theirs.

And they were great

Well, stolen or not Led Zeppelin was and remains pretty damn good. Dazed and Confused is awesome. I really like Led Zep when they turn up the blues.

I’ve gotten into a probably weird habit the last few months of sleeping with headphones and listening to something. Most of the time it’s music, Led Zep, Nora Jones, Dianna Krall, The Band, Joe Walsh, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell are the tops so far. If I just want to blank out, I listen to white noise as rain falling on a tent. Retired so I can indulge myself.

As a believer in the public domain where the people are supposed to reap the benefits of a LIMITED TIME protection of intellectual and creative property, the whole case is ludicrous. Case filed 45 years after the album was released?

Inspired by Spirit’s song I could buy, but it’s not a copy.

Either way, copyrights need to return to limited time and the Mickey Mousing of copyright law to protect Disney needs to end. At this time, my great grandchildren’s children MIGHT enjoy the protections we pay for in copyright law. That’s not a lawful exchange.

Garth Brooks doesn't have to share so he's the most rewarded performer of all time. Elvis was good at dressing up but had no place to go but into drugs.

This describes more than half the bands and artists in the various musical halls of fame. Same thing with authors.

Remember, there’s only three real story lines in literature. “Boy Meets Girl,” “The Little Tailor” and “A Man Learns A Lesson.” Add in the inverse situations - failed romance/people don’t fall in love, man doesn’t learn a lesson, etc - and you have all the stories there are, and people write endless variations on them.

If the taurus song had the little flourish at the end of the riff I would say Zeppelin stole it. Stairway sounds different. It’s about musical ideas. Much music can sound similar.

Glad that’s settled. Now if they can sort out which is better, Desperado or Witchay Woman.

Rush had a situation regarding their song “La Villa Strangiato,” which contained a riff from the song “Powerhouse” which was used in WB cartoons. They ended up remunerating the original composer just because it was the right thing to do.

ALL of rock is a ripoff of everything that came before it.

Even Jazz and the Blues is a ripoff of things that came before it.

Music has only a few notes and chords. Everything is a ripoff of what came before when it comes to music.

So what? Mozart would take melodies from lesser composers and turn them into masterpieces. That's how it works.

Note how nobody plays (or even knows) that Spirit song called "Taurus."

Though give Spirit credit where credit is due, "Spirit In The Sky" is a masterpiece that no other band has done better.

And everybody ripped off C, F & G chord patterns from me! I’m debating whether or not to change guitar strings this year and deduct it from next years tax return. ;o)~
