A total of 2,476 teenagers ages 13-19 died in motor vehicle crashes in 2018... About 2 of every 3 teenagers killed in crashes in 2018 were males.
In the United States, teenagers drive less than all but the oldest people, but their numbers of crashes and crash deaths are disproportionately high.Footnote 1 In the United States, the fatal crash rate per mile driven for 16-19 year-olds is nearly 3 times the rate for drivers ages 20 and over. Risk is highest at ages 16-17.
In 2018, teenagers accounted for 7 percent of motor vehicle crash deaths. They comprised 8 percent of passenger vehicle (cars, pickups, SUVs, and vans) occupant deaths among all ages, 4 percent of pedestrian deaths, 3 percent of motorcyclist deaths, 7 percent of bicyclist deaths and 12 percent of all-terrain vehicle rider deaths.

Obviously if teens practiced "garage-in-place" except for essential travel and everyone kept a 6 car length distance in doing the latter then we could prevent almost all those deaths.
In comparison, out of over 200,000 COVID-19 deaths, as Oct 3 2020 only 94 deaths among those under 18 have been attributed to COVID-19, (https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#demographics), yet teens are told to not play sports, and encouraged to stay home, meaning get more overweight wasting time ion video games.
Yet a study in the UK attributed 676,000 deaths each year to inactivity. (https://www.bbc.com/news/health-30812439) while in the US even as far back as 2004 an estimated 400,000 people died from causes related to poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyles -- 33% more than in 1990. CDC Director Julie Gerberding said, "The problem of obesity is really an epidemic, and we need to apply the same tools to combat it as if it were an infectious disease epidemic." The Institute for Highway Safety reports 11 teens die every day due to texting while driving. Now, a new study shows teens who text and drive are more likely to exhibit other dangerous behaviors.
77 teens die every week (Age 16 -19)
4.015 deaths every year
So - texting is more dangerous to teens while driving than COVID.
4,015 deaths every year
oops — typo....
Yes, although there is a discrepancy btwn stats based upon the U.S. Department of Transportation's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), that "A total of 2,476 teenagers ages 13-19 died in motor vehicle crashes in 2018" and what https://www.necn.com/news/local/_necn__highway_safety__11_teens_die_every_day_due_to_texting_while_driving_necn/163912/ reports, that "The Institute for Highway Safety reports 11 teens die every day due to texting while driving" = 4,015 deaths every year.
Im still haunted by a fatal crash in October 2016 that had two brothers and a friend they all died
I cant imagine being parents and losing both of their children that way
The keeping the youth idle (out of school) was one of the worst aspects and least necessary, least scientific aspects of the U.S. Covid-19 public health measures. Evidence against it was available globally but largely ignored by the states and the K-12 schools in the U.S.
How much does wearing a mask help?
If you make every death a covid death, that’s how you get that many or more.
A stitched, two-layer cotton mask limits the droplet spread to 2.5 inches. Single layer bandanas are the least effective masks, reducing droplet spread to 3 feet 7 inches. Without any mask droplets will spread 12 feet.

Thanks for the reply.
So, does a mask reduce transmission by 100%? 10%? 1%?
That depends on whether or not you are ok with people up in your face I think, that is if you and they are wearing the good masks, who knows with the bandanas.
