When it comes to counted cross-stitch, I’m there! Later today, after church and lunch, I’ll try to remember to post my “Best Election Ever” sampler I designed in the “PC Stitch” software.

Quilting is my main thing, but when I just need to sit and relax, it’s cross-stitch.

Years ago (decades? LOL!) I got ambitious and starte a cross stitch Angel, similar to this one, but wtihout the 'patriotic' theme. It had at least a dozen shades of BLUE in it. I got about half way through it, and it sat, and sat, and sat. Then a friend saw it and asked to finish it, and she did and it was beautiful. She added some 'sparkles' to the wings and really did a nice job. And then she moved out of state and I never saw it again. I hope she kept it. She did a great job on it; a real piece of art!

That is really pretty, but I'm a sucker for those colors, being an 'Autumn' according to a colorist. ;) Those stitches are easy, but this would take some concentration, I'd think. Totally do-able, though, even for a beginner.

Do you think the yarn will really drape as nicely as that?

That’s my problem with crochet - I enjoy doing it, but clothing made of it is so often stiff and boxy. (I’m all thumbs at knitting...must do something about that. So many have told me that they find knitting so much easier; but maybe it’s a matter of what one learned first.)

It’s a very unusual pattern.

I’ve been thinking that I might like to add a subdued fringe/tassel at the bottom.

“Do you think the yarn will really drape as nicely as that?”

I do. It’s a nice open weave, so it should drape nicely.

But, I agree - clothing that is knit tends to look more finished and professional than crocheted items, other than scarves, hats and mittens.

I still have a pattern and yarn for a crocheted vest that I’d like to make, but in all honesty, that was about 10 pounds ago, LOL! (D@mn Quarantine!)

Quarantine seems to be doing the opposite to me. Nothing has tasted interesting for months, now; and I know this isn’t good for me. I used to eat much better, get more exercise, go out and see stimulating things more often.

I’m beginning to understand the ‘experts’ who say that the mental health ramifications of this ‘lockdown’ are just as dangerous as the health danger against which we believe we’re protecting ourselves.

Yep. To me, it feels like the 70’s all over again - the pervasive feelings of, ‘malaise’ and ‘ennui.’

Ennui. noun. A feeling of utter weariness and discontent resulting from satiety or lack of interest; boredom: ‘The endless lecturing from the Social Justice Warriors produced an unbearable ennui.’

And now with winter coming, all I hear is Jimmy Carter in my head telling me to turn down the thermostat and put on a sweater. *SMIRK* (Living through the 70’s ONCE, was more than enough!)

Maybe we should start a thread on this subject so all FReepers can chime in with what has been helping them cope? I mean, we are a pretty intelligent/hearty/cheerful/positive lot for the most part! ;)

I think I’m just tired of not actually becoming...tired.

It’s amazing how little I walk out now...and I’ve got to do something about that.

But I’m VERY tired of the television and internet news. One feels obliged to watch it - but all it does is agitate and depress.

Reading interesting books is helping me to cope. Many of us have gotten away from books, because of the Internet. I’ve recently renewed my love for good ones; and that is helping me to cope.

I joined Book of the Month Club earlier this year. I love it. They let you make your own selections from 5 suggestions, which is nice. I always look at reviews first, of course.

At this point, life is too short to waste on books with less than 5-stars. (Some exceptions, of course.)

I have 400+ books on my ‘to-read’ list, LOL!

Maybe we should start up a FR Book Club? At least for the winter months. Think about it. ;)
