A completely unrelated scientific photo to go with a scientific subject.

ANNA ROOD (PHD Seismologist) STANDING NEXT TO A TALL, SLENDER PRECARIOUSLY BALANCED ROCK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. COSMOGENIC SURFACE EXPOSURE DATING SAMPLES HAVE BEEN COLLECTED TO DETERMINE ITS AGE, AND A 3D MODEL HAS BEEN MADE TO DETERMINE ITS PROBABILITY OF TOPPLING DUE TO EARTHQUAKE GROUND SHAKING.

On closer inspection of Ms. Rood, I can understand the positioning of the rock.

Cletus,

I had to reduce the photo size to post it.

Here is a much better close up of Dr. Rood...

I am sceptical of anything in this report since the author is apparently ill-informed. For starters he is calling an enzyme a gene. Stupid.

“The locus of male sexual desire”...for other males covers 99.9% of the brain in Buttigieg.

Re: "He is calling an enzyme a gene. Stupid."

Headlines are usually written by copy editors (or software programs).

At several points in the article, the author specifically talks about manipulating the "Aromatase gene" to increase or decrease production of the enzyme.

If the author referred to the Aromatase gene as "CYP19, located on chromosome 15q21.1" the general reader audience at SciTechDaily would start dozing off.

Aromatase is an enzyme that converts testosterone to estrogen.

People sometimes take drugs that are used as aromatase inhibitors.

God gave the human male a penis and a brain, but only enough blood flow to operate one at a time.
