Who Is Steve Scully, the Moderator for the Second Presidential Debate?
marie claire ^ | Sep 30, 2020 | Bianca Rodriguez

Posted on 10/01/2020 10:19:54 AM PDT by tired&retired

While there are no guarantees that the second debate won't be the dumpster fire that was the first, Scully's famously calm demeanor could make things easier. Here's what to know about him.

Scully explained his career history and how he got involved in the world of politics—and it has a lot to do with Biden.

"You know, it was pretty traditional," he said. "I came to school in Washington, D.C., went to American University and had a couple of internships. I worked for Joe Biden, Senator from Delaware at the time, as an intern, so I had my first chance to really see politics up close in Washington, D.C."

After that, Scully worked for Senator Kennedy in his 1980 campaign before going to Northwestern for grad school on scholarship. His original plan was grad school, then law school, but he fell in love with journalism while he was there.

Scully has worked for C-SPAN since 1991. He's currently a producer, correspondent, and host for one of their morning programs, The Washington Journal. He's also in charge of the network's White House coverage. He's even served on the Executive Board of the White House Correspondents' Association, where he was the president of the association from 2006 until 2007.

Any one of Trump’s last 3 press secretaries would be fine with me, if they’re going to spike the debate with a guy who worked for Biden.

Why are we like Charlie Brown always trying to kick a damn football and having it pulled at the last second?

The News said yesterday that the 2nd debate would be a “town hall” debate. All I know for sure is Chris Wallace did a horrible job and his bias came through like a mac-truck towards Biden.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that he worked for Biden because he liked him. You get an internship with the guy that’s there because you want it on your resume. So I don’t buy in to he’ll be any more biased than anyone else because he worked for Biden, although he’s probably a Democrat.

He worked for Biden???

Well, that seems fair. I’m sure they couldn’t find anyone with closer ties to Biden who would be qualifid.

I've got a great idea. Instead of the lefty from C-Spam, Steve Scully, why not call up the retired, very capable and respected Vince Scully, former major league baseball sportscaster as debate moderator.

Vince Scully recently stated that he would "never watch another NFL game again" due to the kneeling of NFL football players during the playing of the National Anthem.

He's da man!

Relieve the Steve, clinch the Vince.

Play ball !

I think you are on to something. :^)

I suspect that Trump should just refuse any further debates. There are no acceptable moderators to both sides - but they always come up 'lefty'.

Interns don’t cross political party lines.

Scully will be allied with Biden in the attempt to sully the President else he would not have been chosen to “moderate.”
