Who Is Steve Scully, the Moderator for the Second Presidential Debate?
marie claire ^ | Sep 30, 2020 | Bianca Rodriguez

Posted on 10/01/2020 10:19:54 AM PDT by tired&retired

While there are no guarantees that the second debate won't be the dumpster fire that was the first, Scully's famously calm demeanor could make things easier. Here's what to know about him.

Scully explained his career history and how he got involved in the world of politics—and it has a lot to do with Biden.

"You know, it was pretty traditional," he said. "I came to school in Washington, D.C., went to American University and had a couple of internships. I worked for Joe Biden, Senator from Delaware at the time, as an intern, so I had my first chance to really see politics up close in Washington, D.C."

After that, Scully worked for Senator Kennedy in his 1980 campaign before going to Northwestern for grad school on scholarship. His original plan was grad school, then law school, but he fell in love with journalism while he was there.

Scully has worked for C-SPAN since 1991. He's currently a producer, correspondent, and host for one of their morning programs, The Washington Journal. He's also in charge of the network's White House coverage. He's even served on the Executive Board of the White House Correspondents' Association, where he was the president of the association from 2006 until 2007.

Hey just to be fair, let Sean Hannity be the moderator, let’s see the left say they are fine with that

At the debate, when it is Trump’s turn to speak, the first thing he should do is ask the moderator, “Is it true that you used to work for Joe Biden?”

He was very fair with callers during the Repub convention. He will be the most fair one of the three. He comes across as unbiased.

They should have Vin Scully do the moderating. He can just do a play by play commentary.

“let Sean Hannity be the moderator, let’s see the left say they are fine with that”

Only if we get the moderator mute button on his own opinions..

Scully is a Never Trumper. He wouldn’t have been selected if he wasn’t. But, they all are. Why not Tucker? Or Mark Levin? Dan Bongino? One conservative moderator, one liberal?

We don’t have a fit or complain and the GOP is gutless and represents no one, so the Left gets its way every time.

Don’t be too sure. Trump Derangement Syndrome can be a sudden-onset disease.

“I’ve watched Steve Scully for years on C-SPAN. Never gotten any kind of partisan vibe from him”.

Same here.

Working for Kennedy during 1980 had to be an eye opener with sex, drugs, and power. A former staffer wrote about him around this period, I forgot the name, but Ted was out of control.

Willing to stand in the fire for honorable reasons, and willing to stand in the fire for ego are different.

Trump has proven over and over he’s in politics for the right reason.

But the Republicans already had their “right wing” moderator from the biased Fox News. It’s only fair that the next moderator be a Biden supporter. Every question that Wallace asked was designed to cast Biden in a negative light, and advance Fox’s devotion to President Trump. 🙄
