I thought the FR gun aficionados would be interested in this. Ruger has purchases most all of the assets of Marlin Firearms from the seemingly perpetually bankrupt Remington.
Remington killed the Marlin Firearms brand with their crappy "Remlins." Lets hope Ruger can return the Marlin brand to the standards seen in the old "JM" marked guns. Long live the lever action!

My brother stole a Marlin 39A Golden Mountie Rifle from me and traded it for a bag of weed. My grandfather left it to me.
I doubt Ill ever forgive him for it.

I learned a few weeks ago that Bushmaster/DPMS was bought out by Remington and shut down.
I know because I bought an LR-308 a couple of years ago that I never fired. When I finally got around to it, it wouldn’t cycle. Took a while to figure out where to send it, but Remington fixed it for free.

I’ve loved my Marlin model 795 .22 rifle for over 15 years. I hope Ruger (with their fine 10/22) don’t decide the 795 isn’t needed anymore.

I still have mine. Got it when I was 14. Sweet lever-action.
Accurate as hell.

This could be good for the Marlin brand which has suffered under Remington management.

I bought a 795 first and then discovered the Marlin 60, now I have 8-9 of them.

Yes, the Model 60 is the one product that I'm concerned about with this news. That's the 10/22's main competitor.
This is breaking new ground for Ruger; I hope they have a good plan to preserve the Marlin brand - including legacy designs.

My first rifle was a Marlin model 60. I got it in the early 80s for about 40 bucks at Kmart.

You’ve got that right! Remington could easily become a HBR Case Study in how not to run a firearms company.

Nope. 3 years in a State Prison for embezzling $100,000 from a church.

Maybe Ruger can move the Marlin operations to its Prescott facility. They have plenty of room for it.
I still have my Marlin Camp 9 from 26 years ago.
To: Lurkinanloomin
...then discovered the Marlin 60My very first 22 rifle was a tubular mag design. I can't remember for sure, but since that was in the sixties, it could very well have been a Marlin 60.
