Zinc was not mentioned. Is this entire study a straw man? “Debunking” HCQ, used by itself, when the actual claim is that HCQ/zinc/azithromycin (or other antiviral antibiotic) is effective.

If i wasn’t witnessing it for myself i would be hard pressed to believe you could come up with such diametrically opposing test results from 2 reputable institutions.

It’s a cheap anti-viral that has been used for decades and is sold over-the-counter in some countries.
I don’t understand why we need to do a massive study before we recommend it as a treatment. There’s nothing to lose by using it. Prescribe it in mass and do the studies along side.

Did these brainiacs also make 50 mg of ZINC a part of their study protocol??? Vit D3 is also recommended, to be taken with the HCQ regimen, per Dr Zelenko.
I don’t see where zinc OR Vi D was given, or listed, for this *study*.

HCQ is cheap. Nobody can make insane amount of money.

I’m a biologist by education, this is once again why I am ashamed of the state of science in this country.
The whole point of HCQ is that in combination with zinc it INHIBITS viral replication, once you are infected. Studies that don’t measure viral load and shedding differences between treated and untreated, provide ZERO advancement of knowledge.
I could have told them what their results would be in advance. Shameful...

This is a bit like testing a tire and saying it failed - but you didn’t put air in the tire. The tire needs air to work.
And HCQ needs to be used in conjunction with other meds to work.
I reread the excerpt twice - no mention of zinc or the other items in Dr. Z’s regimen.
How accurate of a test? Some detect other viruses and remnants of anti-bodies. A more telling test would be the viral loads of each participant. Also, it doesn't say any of the HCQ test participants died because off the Covid and HCQ treatments or even had any symptoms. This is a nothing burger.
For most people, COVID-19 isn’t even dangerous. It is simply an annoying illness that people get over. Many people don’t even know they have it, hence the testing being done.
Exactly, Coloradan — no zinc. On its own HCQ does NOT knock out coronaviruses. That’s the job of the zinc. The HCQ simply tricks the virus into creating an opening for the zinc, which can’t otherwise get inside the viral particles.
