Boulder County announced a new public health order Thursday barring all college-aged individuals from gathering for at least two weeks.
The order bars all indoor and outdoor gatherings for people in the 18 to 22 age group and cites University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) students as causing a surge in COVID-19 infection.
The order said the county has seen 1,392 confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases among CU Boulder students in the age group since classes began August 24.
That represents 78% of Boulder Countys COVID-19 cases for this time period, the order stated.
We must take stronger action to stop the spread of this virus in our community, Boulder County Public Health Executive Director Jeff Zayach said in a statement. We have researched the actions we can take that would be effective while minimizing burden on those who have not been the source of increased transmission.
The order lists 36 addresses as stay-at-home residences, which the county alleges "have repeatedly engaged in activities that violate public health order." Individuals who live in the locations are ordered to stay in their residence at all times except to seek medical care or participate in other essential activities, per the order.
...
CU Boulder said in a statement that it endorses the public health order.
We are supportive of the public health needs of the Boulder community to stop the spread of the virus, Associate Vice Chancellor of Integrity, Safety and Compliance Dan Jones said in a statement. This new public health directive will be a strain on our students living in Boulder, and we are focusing on efforts to support them.
Sure, let's admit that our order will F*%k these kids mental health up. Hopefully they become very wealthy as a result of a lawsuit.
The absurdity of thinking kids who want to party and satisfy their raging hormones would be content with talking to social workers instead is beyond belief.
.
That doesn’t sound the least bit legal.
I have a feeling the social workers will be in for a rude awakening when they are hopefully told to F*6k off in new and unique ways.
and check this out: Boulder farmers market tells young adults they can’t shop for food:
Public Health Order (2020-07) - City of Boulder
In order to slow the rate of potential transmission of COVID-19 within the City of Boulder limits;
Gatherings of any size within the City of Boulder of anyone 18-22 years old is prohibited.
Residents of identified properties must stay at home except for Essential Activities or Essential Travel
Please DO NOT COME to the market if either of the above applies to you.
You can read the full order here.
***In effect at the Boulder Farmers Markets (Longmont & Denver markets not included) through October 7, 2020
hopefully this kind of fascism is evident even to the brainwashed college-aged young adults ...
Thats fatality rate.
.003% of those who are detected with it (important point) die of it. Of course only a very small portion of the population is even tested for Covid, and nearly all who are infected never get tested, so the risk is even lower than that.
How many is a gathering?
Is 20 a gathering?
Is 10 a gathering?
Is 5 a gathering?
Is 2 a gathering?
Is 1 a gathering?
This is incredibly stupid.
The strategy here is completely backwards.
They should be encouraged to socialize and “catch” Covid, with very, very low risk to them, in order to speed up progress of herd immunity. Once they are over and done they, at least, will no longer be a risk to everyone else.
We know it is. But Karen is scared and has been hiding inside for months with her cats watching MSNBC. They need her vote and what her scared so they can protect her.
Heh. Need video when the social workers show up at the Delta House.
This is exactly how heard immunity should be built. Get the individuals that have low chance of complications together and have them become a block within the greater population through which larger waves of infection will not spread. Even better that those individuals are separated as a cohort while they are becoming “immunized”.
Frankly, they should keep all the kids together and have them do a version of a chicken pox party.
But “THEY” need to extend the scamDEMic for another six weeks...can’t risk HI, vaccine, or anything else get in the way of preventing a return to REAL normalcy before November 3.
If they were really concerned about student health, they’d ban the University of Colorado.
Does the order actually bother to define how many people constitute a "gathering?"
Regards,
My suspicious nature wants to ask the question; was there a push to test a large number of students as opposed to the rest of the population of Boulder county?
IOWs what percentage of the student pop. has been tested as against the percentage of the general population?
Sounds like age discrimination to me.
So if you’re 17 or 23, you can go to rages and party all night. And if you’re with BLM, the rules don’t apply. This is just outright oppression because they CAN. Arbitrary bureaucratic BS.
These rules violate a whole bunch of Fed Laws, mainly the 1st Amendment right to assembly.
