GINSBURG’S ALLEGED “BLIND SPOT”
Powerline ^ | SEPTEMBER 25, 2020 | PAUL MIRENGOFF

Posted on 09/25/2020 4:06:38 PM PDT by Hojczyk

On Wednesday, an army of Justice Ginsburg’s former law clerks, all dressed in black, honored their mentor by lining up as “honorary pallbearers” on the front steps of the Supreme Court when her casket arrived. It was an impressive display.

However, Christian Mitchell, Illinois’ Deputy Governor, noticed a “jarring lack of ppl of color” among the former Ginsburg clerks.

This wasn’t because African-American former Ginsburg clerks declined to serve as honorary pallbearers. It was because, in her 27 years on the Supreme Court, Ginsburg apparently hired only one African-American clerk — one out of approximately 150. That, by the way, is one more than she reportedly hired during her 13 years as a federal court of appeals judge.

From this record, Mitchell concludes that “even heroes have blindspots.” If Ginsburg had been a conservative, he probably would have concluded that Ginsburg was a white supremacist.

However, the lack of black clerks in Ginsburg’s chambers should not, without more, be viewed as indicating a blind spot or racism. Is there any evidence that Ginsburg ever rejected a black applicant in favor of a white candidate with inferior credentials? Is there evidence of a pattern of selecting white applicants over black ones when the credentials were equal?

If not, then Ginsburg’s only “sins” were color blindness, merit hiring, and skepticism about the wonders of diversity.

It would have been nice, though, if Ginsburg had backed merit-based selections and color blindness, and been less impressed by the diversity-imperative, in cases involving other institutions.

Wasn’t it Ginsburg who was outed for having an office in a predominantly black neighborhood and had never hired a black person to work for her? I remember someone, and I BELIEVE it was Ginsburg during a confirmation hearing, who was asked “what would you say if you learned that a person had run a business in black neighborhood and that person had never hired a black person to work for her” and her response was “I would have to conclude that this person was a racist.” Then the person asking the question said “that person was you!” Does anyone remember this? I wish I knew for sure that it was RBG. It was definitely some democrat.

Screw that. Look back at the attacks on Antonin Scalia after his death. You must be one of those people who still think there are good people on the left. Newsflash. there aren’t any.

Ginsburg’s other blind spot? Overweaning love of power.

She could have easily retired during the first 0b0b0 Administration. After all, she had been dozing on the bench since at least the Bush Administration — it’s not like her decrepitude was a secret. Further, Barry had a friendly Senate and Ginsburg’s ideological successor could have sailed through hearings.

But no, RBG thought Hillary would win in 2016 and that Ginsburg could afford to retire then. Turns out she was very wrong.

Ginsburg was a racist.
She supported abortion because “there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.”

RGB may have had a shortage of black clerks, but she is the only SCOTUS member to have a black man drop and give her 10 at her Lying in State. So that’s gotta count for something.

OMG can we PLEASE let this woman rest in peace? Hasn’t anyone heard of “don’t speak ill of the dead?”
..............................................
She sanctioned the killing of 50 million children and we should worry about her resting in peace? Sorry Toots, but that’s not going to happen.

The one black clerk, Paul Watford, is indeed a whiz. Now on the 9th circuit, and a standard dem but credentials fully equal to her other clerks. You could look it up.

I expect that is true. It is noticeable that a woman who pretends to be all about equal rights only hired one black in all those years.

“Amy Coney Barrett is the mother of two black children. She adopted two girls from Haiti.”

ACB has 100 legal opinions to consider and voted in Illinois earlier this month for the Lockdowns.

But on this point, she is God’s gift to her faith. Respect.

If an employer did that regardless of qualifications it would be deemed racism period....

Now it becomes clear why she did not retire early. She stayed on expecting Hillary to win and would not retire under Obama because he would appoint a black judge.
Now that is racist. Just calling it like I see it.

Why does the black community support these Democratic racist pigs.

but if Obama was to choose her successor it would have been a black jurist and she did not want that. Again racist

remember the KKK was a democratic organization

“Maybe there weren’t a lot of potential clerks to choose from”?
Crappola lady.
Pull your head out the sand.
Each Supreme has many law clerks and thousands of future lawyers would give their eye teeth to be a clerk there.
Black, White Red, Yellow. Jew Muslim, Christian etc.
Male or female. All kinds of folks line up for a chance to be a clerk there. It is up to said supreme to choose their staff.
RBG just did not care to choose folks of color.

Cool - gave me meat for another tweet:

Wait. Whut?
RBG only hired one person of color out of the 150 or so she had working for her over the years?
I guess if you kill enough babies, and go heavy on the Black babies, you get an automatic exemption for respecting actual living Blacks.

That’s the kind of thinking Democrats love. Taking the high road has allowed Republicans to be steamrolled by the left. Joseph Goebbels’ “repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth” has been employed by the left with such success that we have an entire generation running around wearing Che shirts and believing the Republicans were the KKK. There is no reason to make Ginsburg a Saint but every reason to point to her faults. If she were just some little old grandma down the road I’d agree with you but this woman helped orchestrate a lot of what is wrong with our society.

Well, you both make very good points.

She was responsible for many bad things in the U.S. and she definitely wasn’t a harmless “little old lady.”

I’m not grieving that RBG has met the fate we all must face, but she was a women of her time and culture and probably was true to that at lease in her own conscious. She is reported to have been a fairly pleasant person with the other menbers of the Court with whom she disagreed; not a harridan like some.
