what should i do? irs refund is several weeks late according to recorded message, no human answers in the phone tree
Did you look online?
if you find someone let me know what they say
Spoke to them yesterday, got better answers from my dog!
Learn to capitalize. People will take you much more seriously.
call your congressman
IRS NEVER communicates by phone. IGNORE!
Its a scam.
I am pretty sure their call centers as closed still.
Let me try that againI wrote it like Biden:
I believe their call centers are still closed. You probably wont get a person.
This happened to us. Finally got an IRS letter in the mail a month ago. They were concerned about ID theft. Gave me instructions for an IRS website to verify our identity. Refund came 2 weeks later and 6 months after we filed our taxes.
Did you do your return online or via postal service? Did you go to “Where’s my refund?” at the IRS website? Depending on what it says, if you can’t get any answers, you can always try contacting your Congress critter, and asking them for help, or at least see if they have any suggestions on what you can do next.
Put on your waders, head to the local IRS office and demand action. Prepare to meet the most stupid, egocentric, fat bags of protoplasm on the planet.
Easier solution: Call your congress thing and explain your problem. Congress things have specialized, howling yahoos on staff to deal with bureaucratic protoplasms.
That’s what I did and it worked! But that was in 1961. It might not be so easy now. Still it’s worth a try. Don’t call though, a phone call can be ignored too easily and an e-mail isn’t much better. A paper letter is received, logged in and forwarded leaving a trail that can be traced. “They” probably won’t trace it but if there has been an irregularity each person who handled the letter will worry about the possibility that the trail might end at their desk
BTW, I hope you keep copies of any and all letters to the government. Recordings of phone calls may not be admissible in court but you can still tickle your memory with them. be careful though, in some jurisdictions it’s illegal to record phone conversations unless you have “NSA” tattooed on your forehead.
THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE. YOU ARE A LEGEND IN YOUR OWN MIND.
Well, if you want to come off like a pimply texting teen, then by all means keep ignoring how English actually works.
I’m sure that will take you far.
it’s a scam!
For a fun time go to Youtube and search for IRS scammer trolling. You’re welcome.
That is not how the IRS works. SCAM. IGNORE. REPORT.
