Would like to hear from Lenovo All-In-One users ( vanity )

My old HP Touchsmart All-In-One with Windows 7 is on its last legs . I have a newer Dell PC ( not all-in-one ) upstairs that has treated me pretty well since I bought it 6 years ago , however I've been looking at Lenovo . By the way , I am in Japan . Have been reading mixed reviews about Lenovo and its products so , because I trust fellow Freepers opinions who are not computer dummies like myself , would like to hear your comments/experiences/opinions re: Lenovo and if you recommend a diffeent company's all-in-one that info would also be appreciated . My MAIN computer is upstairs and I don't want to spend a lot of money for the one I use downstairs . I had a look at the Lenovo Japan website and they go for as low as $ 400 . I'd be willing to go $500-600 . Any info would be appreciated . Thanks in advance !

I don’t know what you consider to be an “All-In-One”.
I buy based on price, memory, and hard disk, not by brand.
I have Dell, Acer, and Lenovo; all of which I like.

Lenovo makes decent hardware, sometimes very good hardware in the upper price ranges.

However it took me a while to clean out the bloatware that I could find, and I still hear of newer malware being preinstalled.

Not uncommon on any PC made in China.

Lenovo was IBM until the Chinese Communists bought it.

I have had good luck with Acer, and currently use an Asus. I also like Toshiba.

I have used Lenovo laptops pretty much exclusively for 30 years. I don’t know about the All in One.

I like Lenovo because I was on computers before there were PCs and dislike a mouse. The key travel on the Lenovo suits me better in my job where I produce mass amounts of text.

As you can see from the responses you’ve gotten so far you’re not going to get an adequate response because of the way you framed your question.
So, ask yourself what will be the PRIMARY purpose of that computer? What will be a seconday use but, still important to you?
Examples: Home business use as a primary objective. Some Net research to suport that use. Or, personal use. Gaming. Video editing. Streaming videos. Streaming movies. Simply surfing the net and watching whatever you come across. The purpose of the PC is the most important consideration.

I’ve had a Lenovo YOGA 710 notebook for about 4 years, heavily used daily. It does what I need, mostly internet, routinely have 12-15 tabs open with no problem, operating on Win 10 and Chrome browser. I do play a game called Rail Nation that uses lots of memory and it handles it well, with good graphics, etc. My model is 10.5” or so screen, as I did not want a larger, heavier device.

ocrp raises some good questions regarding the primary purpose of the laptop because it relates to the best answer to your question.

In general, I try to get the most RAM I can afford and the biggest disk drive I can afford. These are to hedge against the computer becoming obsolete as newer, faster programs tend to tie up more resources than older programs designed for older systems.

Personally, I like staying with Windows 7 which means I’m not into touch screens. Win7 is no longer supported by Microsoft but I also suspect it has less spyware, particularly combined with a good anti-virus and firewall programs. I believe it is the least buggy of all the Windows OS.

Ultimately, any laptop is just a box. It’s what gets put in the box that matters most. Hope this helps. Good luck.

These days in my old age I use the computer for FR , Youtube , Twitter , Facebook , email , playing DVDs , shopping ...everyday stuff . I prefer an all-in-one not only for aesthetic purposes ( counter where the HP sits is opposite the dining room table and it takes up less space than a tower + keyboard ...) but audio is also important to me and a cheap laptop’s audio doesn’t cut it ) .

Honestly, the worst computer I have ever had was a Lenovo.

For what you just described I’d go with a refurbished.

So, all you really need is a basic PC. Audio doesn’t need to come from the PC. You can simply buy a decent laptop and augment it with a simple but good quality outboard set of speakers which will be far better in quality of sound than anything any laptop or ALL-in-One will ever give you.
What is your price point all included? Not just your MAX but your range. If you don’t mind me asking.

Thanks for the reply . Actually , my Dell PC upstairs has external speakers and the audio quality is great . My HP All-In-One has 4 speakers built in and is actually a little better sounding than the Dell . Anyway , to snwer your question about price range : I’d say between 45000-65000 yen - or arouund $ 450-650 .

I had one of the Yoga, tablet-laptops. It was supposed to take the place of 2 devices, my tab and my laptop, but didn’t work as well as either of the old products. We ended up throwing it away. It wasn’t even worth giving to to grand kids.

It didn’t have enough storage, you were supposed to use a cloud for everything, which I don’t like to do as the airports I used to have to transit through didn’t have free wifi, and those that did didn’t give enough bandwidth. It didn’t have enough memory so I had to load and unload programs. I ended up going back to an Acer with a single core memory because it was more reliable and actually faster in real world situations.

So, you have two PC’s? Why are you asking about an additional PC? Are they ancient and giving you specific problems? If so, what are your issues with them?
So, you’re not in the USA. That makes things a bit more of an issue. That said, I will do a bit of research for you and reply to you tomorrow. So you know I’m not a flake I’m retired military. My degrees are in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I was stationed in Japan. Yokuska and Okinawa. I’m happy to help but, a bit more info would be nice.

I have a Thinkpad that’s never been turned off except maybe 6 times in 5 years for trips. It gets a reboot every 10 days on average.(Linux) Nothing fancy,an i5 with onboard graphics and 4gig memory but I did change the hard drive to a SSD before I put a battery in it and it sets on a 3 fan coolpad. Best machine I’ve ever owned and I have a closet full.
