Tommy DeVito, one of the smooth harmonizing founding members of legendary doo-wop group The Four Seasons, has died from complications of the coronavirus. He was 92.

Actor Alfred Nittoli (“Casino”) confirmed the baritone vocalist and lead guitarist’s passing Tuesday on Facebook.

“My dear friend Tommy passed away in Las Vegas at 9:45 last night,” Nittoli wrote, spurring dozens of emotional condolences. “With deep regret I am writing this sitting in his living room. I was informed by his daughter Darcel there will be a service in New Jersey.”

Tommy was a theiving scumbag. Frankie had to work his ass off playing in holiday inns paying off his debt! Notice Frankie didn’t say anything about his passing.

Absolutely; their bodies are not as well equipped to deal with infection due to age. Had he died from Influenza, he’d have died from Influenza. Had he died from a heart attack, he’d have died from a heart attack. But he died because he caught a virus that didn’t exist a year ago. It’s new, and he was alive, but he’s no longer alive because that virus infected him and ended his life. That’s my point. His life still had value and his death is still unfortunate. And were it not for SARS-CoV-2, he’d likely still be alive right now and possibly for several more years. I’m guessing that means something to the people close to him.

Never understood why the theme song to the movie “Grease” was done in a disco style.

I'm guessing because disco was popular at the time?

I never really like or watched Grease, but unfortunately saw parts of it here and there.

Or, he was great as Billy Joel’s drummer.

Or as Warren Zevon put it, “Life’ll kill ya.”

My favorite group. Seeing them live was my first rock concert — at the IBM Country Club in Endicott, NY. 1966 or 1967.

If he’d had flu it wouldn’t be an issue.

I think Joe Pesce was involved in the business end of the Four Seasons.

There will never be another group that so beautifully and accurately with their music and lyrics reflected the aspirations, values and epoch of second and third generation North Jersey Italian - Americans. The Four Seasons and the people they celebrated are now largely part of the past. Those distinctive Italian-American communities no longer exist. Rest in peace Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. Not likely to ever see others like them.
