They have already lost the Barrett nomination, and have nothing to gain by going after her. However, they won't let their limelight go to waste. We will hear about 200,000 dead, "fine people", disparging veterans and war dead, sexist, children in cages, etc., and endless "Reclaiming my time."

Can you imagine Harris, Sparticus, Whitehouse, Combashar having virtually unlimited time at the mike on national TV?

After the Kavenaugh disgrace, the committee has every justification to shut down the questioning.

The ONLY reason Graham would allow this is if he wants to tweak Trump, which he likes to do.

Posting required a link, so I posted to an article about Rush. I am not Rush. I am only Sparticus.

LOL, yes, Corey Booker needs to do another audition to play the part of Spartacus in his future acting career.

I’m not so sure that hearings would be to the Democrats advantage.

They just confirmed her recently, for her current position.

Skip the hearings and just vote.

But there’s no need to hold hearings. Once McConnell is sure he has the votes, he need only schedule the full vote.

They don’t have to have hearings, do they? Where does it say that hearings are necessary? The Constitution merely states that the Senate shall advise and consent. So, let each of them ‘advise’ in written form, and either ‘consent’, or not.

In this case, they'll be rebutted by the GOPers on the committee, though.

Well, the Babylon Bee suggested that Trump select Biden as his nominee so that Biden will then be accused of sexual harassment by Democrats.

For all your relatives and acquaintances copy/pasting to you the standard Dem Talking Points, re "GOP hypocrisy! In 2016 McConnell and Lindsay said this, but now...." - answer them with this:

EVERY SINGLE US PRESIDENT WITHOUT EXCEPTION HAS
NOMINATED A REPLACEMENT WHEN A SUPREME COURT
VACANCY OCCURS IN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION YEAR.

PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY YOU ARE DEMANDING THAT
PRES. TRUMP BE THE FIRST ONE IN HISTORY TO NOT DO SO?

>>They have already lost the Barrett nomination, and have nothing to gain by going after her.<<

Did I miss something?

As for the rest, I am 110% certain Mitch won’t let them pull the Kavanaugh crap again. 10 mins per Senator, 1 round of Q & A, then vote. If he does anything else he will be asking for a delay and more nonsense.

The Presidential Debate Schedule:

Sep 29, 2020

Oct 15, 2020

Oct 22, 2020

The SCOTUS hearing will divert attention away from the debates. This is a godsend for Joe Biden and the Democrats.

From Judge Barrett's SCOTUSblog profile:

In a story in the National Review in August 2020, conservative legal activist Carrie Severino described Barrett as a “champion of originalism” during her short tenure so far on the 7th Circuit. In the 2019 case Kanter v. Barr, the court of appeals upheld the mail fraud conviction of the owner of an orthopedic footwear company. He argued that federal and state laws that prohibit people convicted of felonies from having guns violate his Second Amendment right to bear arms. The majority rejected that argument. It explained that the government had shown that the laws are related to the government’s important goal of keeping guns away from people convicted of serious crimes.

Barrett dissented. At the time of the country’s founding, she said, legislatures took away the gun rights of people who were believed to be dangerous. But the laws at the heart of Kanter’s case are too broad, she argued, because they ban people like Kanter from having a gun without any evidence that they pose a risk. Barrett stressed that the Second Amendment “confers an individual right, intimately connected with the natural right of self-defense and not limited to civic participation.”

SOLD!

Dispense with the hearings already. Not required. Not necessary.

Not being able to showboat in the hearing setting would just drive the RATs over the edge.

Maybe they’ll recall how they dealt with Barr’s hearing as they shouted, “Reclaiming my time!” and wouldn’t let him speak. They were in charge then; GOP is in charge now.

Two can play that game.
