Leo Guinan (“he/him”) has bravely and smugly gone public with his decision to blackmail his father for being a Trump supporter. Unless daddy changes his ways, he’ll never see his grandchildren again. Guinan oozes self-righteous hatred. The only good thing about his post is that people were appalled and contemptuous.
Guinan describes himself in glowing terms:
Trying to share my experiences in a way that might help others. I can change the world. I will change the world. Even if for a single person. He/Him.
This wonderful human being wrote a now-viral post entitled, “Today I Gave My Dad A Choice: Trump or His Grandkids and His Son.” He explains that he was traumatized by finding a Trump sign in his father’s yard. And so, “pissed” and tearful, he sent his parents this message:
Due to the signs in the yard, the kids and I will not be down. The current occupant of the White House is preaching hate and violence, endangering the lives and safety of many of my friends. This is not acceptable to me at all. There is a complete disregard for women, minorities, science, ethics, and morality. Please consider if you support Trump that much. Because I hate him that much. I wanted to be upfront and honest about my feelings.

your mother and i have failed you. we wanted to raise an independent, self thinker, but somehow things went horribly wrong and we got a whiny dependent little jerk. stay away, that is your right. but the only way to save those children of your’s is to spend more time with their grandparents. do you see what you have become? you are afraid of a yard sign.

I saw this happen to a nice young man in our neighborhood some years ago. His girlfriend demanded he leave his family and join their cult, so he did.
Many of us can relate to this personally. To chase after family or people who disrespect / despise / reject you for political reasons in America in order to maintain a destructive relationship over no relationship, is a form of mental illness too, a co-dependency. In the article, the antagonist is using his children for political reasons ... that is even worse.

It’s also highly illegal, as in voter intimidation, under federal law. Probably state and local laws too. Should be made a very public example of.

The idea is a lie, a falsehood and a slander, but it is a thought in the man that is totally induced by the Marxists via their fellow travelers in the media. As usual by mere repetition of a lie, over, and over, and over again the well trained sheeple believe it.

Something tells me his parents aren’t all that upset.
Lots of us have experienced this. It is sad that they cannot understand that people can look at the same facts and, with honesty and good faith, disagree with each other. Moderation and tolerance are NOT part of their being, despite them shouting about how tolerant they are from the mountain tops. They are filled with hate and have proven that they would exercise dictatorial power if given the chance. By cutting off relations with those of their family who are moderate or conservative, they have lost the opportunity to learn some incredibly important things (starting with the fact that they don’t have a monopoly on morality and tolerance for others who think differently) from those who actually care about them. Their loss, not ours.

For me, that started happening in the Obama years...even more so after his re-election. I have to admit...I may have been an instigator. It was hard to accept that every other person I met on the street had stabbed me in the back.
