The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, youll be solving them all within a few days. If youre stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hals Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please dont put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
Solution to our last puzzle. Simply scroll your cursor over the text while left clicking your mouse, and the words should appear.
MUSIC SHOULD STRIKE FIRE FROM THE HEART OF MAN, AND BRING TEARS FROM EYES OF WOMAN. LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
Challenging CG from the Arkansas Gazette.
I played around for a few minutes then the 4th word appeared, and it was down hill from there.
5 minutes good
4 minutes excellent
3 minutes superior
2 minutes amazing
General rule: If youre stumped on a CG, almost always the most frequent letter in the puzzle is the most frequent letter appearing in the English language.
Letter frequency and N DVVXUZ. Double letter VV, single letter word N and most common letter did it for me.
First word was given away by N.
True it gives you the suffix.
Tricky one! Fiddled around for at least 10 mins until it started to come together.

For years, I couldn't stand the idea of my mother thinking I was a selfish, spoiled brat, a liar, a sneak, and someone who takes the easy way out. And and and. Now I am fine with her thinking those things, because they're true.
Would have been about 2 min other than word 5 slowing me down. Took a SWAG at the double letter and with the single letter it all fell into place.
For me it was the 2nd word and then the first word and after that it was easy to solve. One of the things I always look for are words ending in “ing”.
Really slow on the uptake today. 5 minutes plus a bit.
Think nothing of it.
