I hope he still has some time saved in that bottle.
Okay, and?
It would have been his 77th birthday today had not fate taken him from us, great talent.
I heard his son perform last February. It was a wonderful performance and he described a lot of his fathers life as well as his as well as his own. You can tell he is not the creative stand out that his father was but he is still a very competent blues musician.
Everyone loved that Bad Bad Leroy Brown song when we were kids.
This morning I posted they lyrics to Roller Derby Queen on an NFL thread not realizing today was the day he died. Once again RIP Jim Croce.
So many great singer-songwriters from that era.
Great talent who left us at too young an age. I remember musicians at the time calling one prop planes “Jim Croce Specials” as regards to touring use.
Jim Croce - “Working at the Car Wash Blues” (probably my favorite)

I was born on September 20. His untimely passing on my 24th birthday is something I won’t forget. Talented guy, as was his accompanist Maury Muehleisen who died with him.
A true original. I still miss him after all these years.
“Operator” and “I got a name” are my favorites of his.
RIP Jim and Maury. A few years back, I was on vacation in San Diego. Had dinner at Croce’s (since closed, sadly). Best fried calamari I’ve ever had. His widow, Ingrid, was so gracious - allowed us to take a photo with her.
He is one if those singer/songwriters who makes you wonder how many more great songs he would have composed for listeners to enjoy had he not died prematurely....
Very distinctive voice.
I was just a 10 year old when Delta Flight 723 inbound from New Hampshire passed a few hundred feet over my head on its way to a fiery crash over at Logan Airport. It was a warm, foggy morning and I was on my bicycle not even three miles from the scene of the crash.
Then barely a month and a half later, another plane crash would take the life of Jim Croce.
"Time in a Bottle" was a posthumous number 1 hit and my favorite song of Jim Croce.
I was 10 when he passed. I had two or three of his singles, aka 45s.
