BEDFORD Co., Va. (WSET) -- A few days after resigning as Liberty University's president, Jerry Falwell Jr. was injured in a fall after drinking, according to a 911 call obtained by WSET.

According to the 911 call, on Sunday, Aug. 30, Falwell was reportedly injured and his wife, Becki Falwell, called 911 to report he had fallen down the stairs and was bleeding.

"It was night time and he fell from the stairs and there's a lot of blood right now," Becki told the Bedford County dispatcher.

According to the call, Becki said that Falwell had been drinking but wouldn't say if he was "drinking heavily" when the dispatcher asked.

“I’m not going to answer that question,” she said.

When the dispatcher restated the question, stating she was just trying to help them, Becki said he may have had "just a little bit."

When the dispatcher asked for her name, Becki said, “the more I tell you, the name, the more you’re going to understand why we’re not talking to you right now, I'm sorry."

Falwell resigned Monday, Aug. 24. after reports said his wife had a sexual relationship with another man.

He said the affair only lasted for a short time and the two reconciled quickly. Falwell claims the affair sent him into a depression he said was “like living on a roller coaster.”

On Aug. 31, Liberty’s board of trustees announced an investigation of Falwell's tenure as president. That same day Bedford County dispatchers received a 911 call from Becki.

Becki said Falwell didn't want to go to the hospital because he was being stubborn. She stated he was bleeding from the head, ear, and nose.

According to a dispatch log obtained by ABC13, the first responder who went to the Falwells' home that night reported Falwell had cuts on his face and slurred speech.

The log said the cuts were reportedly from a trash can that had empty alcohol containers in it.

A family friend of the Falwells told ABC13 that alcohol was not a factor in the fall.

They say Jerry lost his footing on steps inside the home and sustained a bad cut to the face. Becki tended to the wound and they both went to bed.

The family friend adds that a few hours later, Jerry woke up with blood all over his face, pillow, and sheets.

Out of an abundance of caution, Becki called 911 for an ambulance. The family friend notes that under pressure from the dispatcher, she noted that Jerry had consumed alcohol, but he only had some wine after the fall to help relax.

The family friend adds that Jerry only received a bandage for his cuts and did not go to the hospital.

Ours was delayed, too. I was afraid Kathleen would outgrow her sisters’ dress. She’s taller than they were at the same age!

The dudes an alcoholic. I get that and understand that and I know that for people who are normal in every respect except for their capacity to handle alcohol, there is a solution through the 12 steps of AA. Religious-leader type alcoholics though are a special breed of nut similar to the preacher that comes home and beats/molests his wife and kids. Sober or not, these cats got major mental issues. I’ve known personally a pastor of a mega church busted for sexual deviancy. Their consciousness is really schizophrenic. I got no answers for that.

I guess we were lucky in the long run, although the growing-up years were stressful. The five P.K. siblings in my family, along with our 15 P.K. cousins, all turned out to be productive members of society, and active in our local churches. Many friends, though, did not.

In Germany the Catholic Church walks a thin line.
I am sure they waited well into the school start for cover to do it.
That’s my observed opinion.
I’m not complaining though, was still wonderful.

I guess someday she will look back at the pictures and recall what the pandemic was like.

IOW, he was bombed out of his mind.

Likely had a head wound, too, as those bleed like all get out.

People who are hostile to religion will always use these examples of corrupt behavior by prominent people to prove that religion is hypocritical nonsense..... My response is to tell them don’t judge a religion based on the behavior of it’s so called leaders, judge a religion based on the cumulative effect that scripture has on the masses that practice that religion
