Felt/heard in Torrance.
Aftershock at same time of 4.8 at half the depth at 9km
Pretty good shaker, and I was between 40 and 50 miles from the epicenter.
Felt it in Riverside about 60 miles away, it rattled the house.
The USGS does some good work.
Earthquakes and real-time stream flow.
Sno-tels too.
One small area of well spent tax money.
There is a certain amount of seismic ‘statistical noise’ that Californians should learn to tolerate. It’s a planet, not a single-use plastic bag.
intense shake and like a FALL ,,,in Echo Park. things were falling all over.
! Yeah, Baby ! I’m here in Whittier. The shaking, as a jack hammer, had the same feel as the 1987 Whittier Earthquake. So far, no reported major damage. The news dolts on TV have a graphic that says, “Earthquake near El Monte”. Well, what town is near El Monte, where is the epicenter, but Rosemead, 1 mile from the 1987 quake epicenter. Idiots.
I remember the 1987 aftershocks, our neighbor’s dog would let out a strange yelp/howl about 20 seconds before it hit.
Trumps fault.
I felt it. Came on strong.
I know earthquakes and it felt like it was going to be a big one. But it stopped and was over. It was kind of weird.
I googled it and found out why. It was only 4.6 but it was very close. That’s why it seemed like it was going to be big.

Didn’t feel a thing here in New Mexico. :)
The cause is obvious: Hell was welcoming RBG as a resident.
..it looks like not too far from the epicenter of the ‘87 Whittier quake —which we lived through...
not strong enuff
Was in 1971 Sylmar Quake (San Fernando), lived in Sierra Madre at the time. Back door flew open and saw the ground literally rolling in huge waves. Dad saved the goldfish.
Few days before, our pet Desert Tortoise, “Warty”, went walkabout and all the cats in the neighborhood disappeared. Our Brittany Spaniel “Lady” was acting weird too. Think she tried to bite me when she started hiding under the bed.
They all can tell when one is about to hit; electromagnetic fluctuations, changes in rad frequencies, etc.
If you can see the mountain ranges and see blue glows/sparks at night and dust flying off the tops in the day, it’s hunkering time. Likely a sizeable temblor.
I felt it.
There was a later smaller quake centered around Borrego Springs, southeastward from El Monte. I think Borrego Springs and El Monte are both on the San Gabriel fault line.
I felt it here in Cypress, Ca. Lasted maybe 5-10 seconds.
