Some have said that no Dem would vote to confirm. The closest possibility would be Joe Manchin in WV. He tends to go with the wind, and the wind is blowing strong Trump in WV. Manchin wants to go back and get elected to the Governor's office back home. It just might burnish his credentials back home among the pro-lifer (among who are traditional Dems who are going to vote Trump) if he cast a vote for a pro-life Justice. Who really knows? But it is a possibility.

Would McConnell want to hold a vote, if he didn’t have the votes?

How about Justice Elizabeth "Beth" D. Walker, West Virginia appeals court justice. She is a 1987 summa cum laude graduate of Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. She earned her law degree in 1990 from The Ohio State University.

I can see both sides of this argument (push a nomination through, or wait until after the election). I think you have to strike while the iron is hot, and get the confirmation before Inauguration Day, because there’s a very real chance that Trump will not win. If the Dems were in the same position, they wouldn’t hesitate to get one of their own in. If we have Biden (Harris), I’m sure they’ll manage to find a 35-year old black Muslim tranny judge who they’ll push as being the greatest person who ever walked the face of the earth.

If Manchin had voted in favor of Kavanaugh, I might have hope he would cross the line again. He didn’t, so we have his answer on the next Trump nominee. He’s not to be counted on.

Garland is atrocious, and the Dems aren’t stupid enough to get played like that — they’d confirm him. Either way, after the nakedly partisan decisions out of Pennsylvania and Michigan courts this week I don’t see Trump winning, so we don’t have time for these games just to prove a point. At the moment we have the president and the senate, and we have to use it for the potentially very brief amount of time we have left in control.

I haven’t been watching talking head news this evening, my guess this death of Ruth has been known to be coming very soon by all sides this last week or so. Everyone has been war gaming it.

Pick a judge based on his or her merit.

Where ever did you come up with this archaic way of thinking. This is the '20's, and meritocracy has been dead for decades, unfortunately.

Appointing a judge now actually DEFUSES the situation. Can’t get motivated to vote for the court pick if it is already filled.

NO! Her husband is CIA. Too swampy. ACP is a Mid Westerner. Graduate of Notre Dame & solid as a rock conservative with 5 biological children & 2 adopted children from Haiti.

That solidifies much of the Mid West for Trump.

The problem with the GOP is that they have constantly followed the advice of people fould mouthed babies like coaster123. Lets hope that the extreme nonsense that the leftist scum have been pulling has woke them up. The Supreme Court is likely to rule on Democrat scams that wouls steal the election. They are our firewall. If Trump wins but the Democrats take back the senate but we have a conservative majority in the Supreme Court that will be able to neutralize much of the damage.

From the list earlier this month: Justice Carlos Muñiz of the Florida Supreme Court, or Justice James Ho of the Fifth Circuit. After her performance at the RNC, my heart is with Daniel Cameron, Attorney General of Kentucky. However he’s too young and has no judicial experience

So what? The Dems have spent over 3 years throwing everything they can at the Republicans. The only ones who will pay attention to McConnell's hypocrisy are people who would never support Trump or a conservative nominee in any case.

Everyone who supports Trump and a conservative nominee will breath a sigh of relief. Your mistake is in agreeing with the the media and Democrats that this supposedly decisive 'gotcha' will have some effect with the general public. It won't, and sticking a knife in the Dems will generate even more enthusiasm among Republican supporters.

The last two rallies Trump basically indicated that after Bidens swipes against him he was no longer going to hold back...and he hasn't. I suspect he's going to look at all angles he can play regarding SC appointment including the timing, who, and just get it done. There's no reason to play nice at this juncture.....there comes a time where you simply give it your all and run the ball over the goal line.
