Supreme Court War Gaming

Ginsburg is dead, and Trump has a pick to make. What are your thoughts on a nominee?

I had been thinking ACB, but Kavanaugh got 51 votes and that wasn't right before an election. Murkowski is already a no and Collins, Romney and Sasse are looming. That means you need to hold 1 out of 3 of them and every other Republican + Pence. I don't see any Democrats breaking ranks on this.

Much as I hate to say it, I think the Democrats have a fair chance to block this nomination, and if that were to happen, I want the optics to look absolutely horrible for them as possible. Nothing could be worse for them than watching them berate a black man or woman in the hearings and vote against them while asking black people to vote for them on election day. That might be enough to pressure some Democrats to confirm.

Of course, Cocaine Mitch is 2/2 in Supreme Court pics and knows his conference better than anyone, so hopefully he can counsel the president on the best selection.

Fate doesn’t often give us a chance to crush our enemies with one fell swoop. This is a once in a 100 year event. We have to seize the day, win the game. We have to be bold. No more BS. Go for the jugular.

Nothing against Kodiak bears as long as there’s 400 yards and a .375 H&H magnum between me and the bear.

Seriously, this is a golden opportunity for PDJT. With Mitch’s promise of an immediate Senate vote, a successor is nominated, the Dems go into a foaming rage, and the vote happens and a new SC justice is confirmed, then the states trying to steal the election with stretched out ballot acceptance dates will lose bigly and the will of the majority will be affirmed. MAGA!

Of course, check your ammo stores and be prepared to suppress your normal hesitancy to cut human flesh. You’ll need both.

Mitch could recess the senate and allow Trump to appoint whoever for 8 months....plus fire Wray and put someone in as FBI director who is not a RINO.

Because he is not actually bad, and as was noted would free up a slot on the dc court, but most importantly after the dems savage him horribly Trump can say I ok whatever and nominate someone else. When the dems object again he can say the dems would object to Jesus, or even RBG if she was still alive just cause I picked her..

I say wait until Trump is re elected. If he wins this appointment before Nov. 3 then voters may be inclined to give the other side a win, to be fair in their opinion.

If the Dems win POTUS details like Supreme Court justices will be meaningless.

I missed reading that. Thank you for the clarification.

I hope Mitch has the votes to pull this off.

Murkowski is already a No. Romney and Collins are iffy.

If the floor vote is held before Election Day, Pence may have to cast the tiebreaker.

The only Dem I could see voting to confirm Trump’s nominee is Manchin and that’s at best 50-50. He couldn’t even bring himself to vote for Kavanaugh.

I gave an opinion and you call me BS and label my view as treasonous. Are you sure?

Why was McConnell in such a hurry to make this announcement? He could have waited all weekend.

Did he do this in concert with POTUS? Has there been any announcement from the White House?

How did McConnell make this announcement so quickly? Did they delay the obit? Did he know it was imminent? Did he discuss it with POTUS ahead of time?

Murkowski was quick to announce she’s voting no. Did she know ahead of time? Did McConnell know what Murkowski would do?

Of course, it could all be Kabuki.

McConnell has explained his mind about a dozen times since then very clearly. Two words - different party.

“they’ll pack the court.”

Of course but doesn’t matter. That’s the least of what they’ll so. Gotta understand what happens if they win.. forget the old rules. Forget them.

All that matters now is a Trump win.

“McConnell will have a hard time explaining his change of mind - and the Dems will not let or the public forget it.”

Not a problem. Blaming McConnell for being inconsistent is boring.

Just nominate a candidate for Supreme Court tomorrow, say it is pro-life and pro-gun candidate, and watch the losers fail as the candidate gets the votes from the Senate.

The Democrats justify replacing Justice Ginsburg as soon as possible with their published post-election plans. Following Pres. Trump winning decisively on election day, the Dems have vowed to challenge everything in court, up to and including to the Supreme Court.
