“Although there are popular myths that taking fish oil lowers your cholesterol, it does not. It will lower your triglycerides, may modestly raise your HDL (which is a benefit), but can actually raise your LDL (bad) cholesterol, which is not a benefit.”
This is debunked regarding LDL as it’s measured today - until a detailed measurement is made, the number means nothing. Lowering triglycerides (fat in the blood) is a BIG DEAL.
Ive been Taking one as long as I can remember, but the funny thing is, my wife bought a few big bottles of them that werent the burpless kind, And I couldnt handle them.
I thought she throwing them all out, but I think what she does is mixes them in when I get low, because every once in a while I get one of them nasty things
I find that taking the fish oil capsules before bed eliminates the burping “fish taste” issue.
Never throw them away!
Mix a little into some Olive Oil and use as normal.
No burps.................
Yes!......................
Salmon.
In other words, we dont know WTF were talking about.
That never stopped us before!.................
Yes, and trout and Tilapia......................
I just eat Sardines. The cool thing is that they have such a short life that they don’t really get a chance to accumulate heavy metals. I get ‘em on sale at costco. And their shelf life is somewhere around 3 years.
Tilapia is garbage, the “junk food” of fish.
It’s cheap..................
Just remember “SMASH”
Salmon
Mackerel
Anchovy
Sardines
Herring
You get what you pay for.
I figure I’ll die of something else way before I die of what’s in Tilapia................
I took fish oil for years and stopped a couple years ago. There is no difference in my blood readings from before and after.
In fact my triglycerides went down some. [But they vary, for sure.]
Was just going to say that. Sardines, wild salmon, lake Superior whitefish, sprats, and trout are the best choices. Stay away from basa and catfish too.
I’ve been taking fish oil for years but they were prescribed by my ophthalmologist for eye health, not for cholesterol. Primary doc is good with it as well for the triglyceride effects.
Fish burps, not that much but it’s no different than after a good dish of sushi which I love.
