Alligators were seen lurking in floodwaters in Alabama after Hurricane Sally dumped more than four months of rain in four hours after it lumbered ashore on Wednesday with 105mph winds and left at least one person dead.
The death happened in Orange Beach, Alabama, according to Mayor Tony Kennon, who also said that one person was missing. Kennon said he couldn't immediately release details.
At least 50 people were rescued from flooded homes and taken to shelters, Kennon said. 'We got a few people that we just havent been able to get to because the water is so high,' the mayor added. 'But they are safe in their homes. As soon as the water recedes, we will rescue them.'

‘12ft? Monster” BWHAAHAHAHAHA! That’s about average for a Georgia gator. 17 or 18 feet...THAT is a monster.
When I was a kid in Pompano Beach Florida we came home from the shelter and there was one swimming in the living room.
Wherever Gators go, a crimson tide is sure to follow.
The Sharknado has turned into a Gatorcade.
That's my line!
That isn’t a average alligator for Georgia. There are no more monsters out there. We have had hunting for gators for a while in the south. The last large gators over 17ft were over a hundred years ago. The large gators of late has been from states like Alabama, that hasn’t had a long history of alligator hunting. Georgia’s largest on record is barely of 14ft.
100% agree
We are called AlabamIans, not Alabamans. Good grief.
Hey better than land mass between Alabama and Louisiana
My cousin lives at Weeks Bay....lotsa rain
Probably not a good time to send the dog out for a pee.
Alabamans is an incorrect word/phrase.
People from Alabama are called Alabamians.
Seriously.
Come on now, no fish or alligator stories!

Lake Eufaula, huh?
A Lake on the Alabama/Georgia border on the Chattahoochee River?
I contend it was an Alabama gator that was poached from the Georgia side.
I know the biggest monster gators caught on that show swamp people tended to run about 12 feet. Thats in Louisiana.
OMG clicking on the Daily Mail UK you cant even see the story there are SO MANY ads popping up GEEZE, who runs this web site??
There was the story about the old Swamp resident (Okeefanokee Joe? real guy..just can’t remember his name) who told that he was sitting on his porch in next to the swamp and saw a bear walk into the water. Then he saw a big gator go after the bear. They both went under the water, there was some thrashing, and, the bear walked out the other side. Gator wasn’t seen again.
As soon as the water recedes, they wont need rescuing.
