WASHINGTON — Emboldened by President Donald Trump’s campaign platform of law and order, militia groups have bolstered their strength before Election Day by attracting military veterans who bring weapons and tactical skills viewed as important to the organizations.
The role of veterans in the newly proliferating militia groups — which sometimes are steeped in racism and other times steeped simply in anti-government zealotry — has increased over the last decade, said a dozen experts on law enforcement, domestic terrorism and extremist groups.

After months of left-wing rioting, arson, and looting, the NYT is (of course) raising the alarm about “right-wing militias.” This reinforces my belief that one of the reasons for the left-wing violence is to provoke a violent reaction from the right, thereby giving the left an opportunity to claim that the REAL problem is right-wing violence.

A few more run ins like happened with Rittenhouse or the McCloskeys will quickly demonstrate who has the upper hand tactically. Right now the authorities are interfering mainly in favor of the rioters. That could change.
A problem is there are so many laws on the books now the average American commits 3 felonies per day. This empowers the government to arrest any American that annoys them, lock them up in a cage for ransom, and at a minimum, financially destroy them. Stalin's secret police chief said "show me the man and I'll show you the crime". Now the USA is listing to port. Government inspectors will be arriving to check all your mattresses for tags.
What we are NOT seeing is an influx of former officers. We are getting enlisted men from every generation from Vietnam to present day. But officers are not showing up. That will be a problem.

The article that you posted is only an attempted distraction from the real problem: the drug trade that’s protected by Democrats. That’s what Antifa, BLM and all of those rioting groups are about (drugs). The violence against police and others is not caused by veterans, American “rednecks,” or by other law-abiding residents who have firearms. It’s caused by criminal drug addicts and dealers.
The canard in places like New York about militias existing in many rural locales west of the Hudson is a myth. In most of these communities by far, there are no civilian militias. There are, however, many armed drug gangs. Investigate, arrest and convict them, and the violence rates will go down along with the commie rioters and much of the Democrat base (addicts).
Veterans join and form militias after they can no longer tolerate Democrats support the mobs of ANTIFA/BLM people for months: riot, burn, loot cities, shoot police, destroy cities, attack citizens, start wildfires. While left wing democrat controlled national media support mobs of rioters looters and anarchists destroying America and the media gives them cover, real patriots see the real truth of the marxists ANTIFA and BLM mobs and as a result veterans are joining more militias. There corrected the the NYT story.
I always felt we did just fine, if the officers stayed the heck away from us, and didn’t come, unless we called them. 😁👍
I felt that way too all the way to E-5. Then I realized why officers are needed. We will not make it without them.
