They told us they realized they were out of their element before they even started.

Young and stupid, but I’m sure they outclassed most of their friends because they actually backpacked 50 miles.

I once did 12 or 13 miles with a full pack in 100 degree temps (95% RH)

Yea, it was pretty brutal but we had lots of water and the ability to filter more.

I have a small Sawyer filter. I took it on a short four mile hike last weekend.

I realized 1/4 mile in that I forgot my water bottle in the car. (My wife had hers so we kept going)

I had my filter so we stopped along the trail and filtered in a little creek.

We've always tried to prepare and at least once it's really saved us from true misery.
