That's racist!
And how many people were without power for days (or was it weeks?) this summer????
—
And what happens to any food people have in their refrigerators during a multi-day blackout?
“Renewable sources” are also notoriously unreliable, and because of their nature, must be located very far from the point of use, requiring a vast grid just to deliver the power. And transmission losses from sending electrical current over long distances demonstrates the reality of something called entropy, a concept in which all energy is converted to heat, which dissipates and provides no additional useful purpose.
The greenest technology now on the horizon in any reasonable time frame is Thorium-fueled Molten Salt nuclear reactors. No carbon, able to run baseline power flat-out full output for months or even years before servicing, and vastly safer than Uranium-fueled Light Water nuclear reactors, which can retain radioactive emissions for years, even centuries, afterward.
The theoretical work has all been done and practical operating plants have been demonstrated. It is a matter of working out a few remaining engineering details and getting this technology into mass production.
Nearly endless electrical power for the entire world.
But NOOOO. People would start getting too prosperous and having too much fun.
Not in TX. TX on its own grid.
Rolling blackouts, CommalaIdiot mention this at any time?
That way they won’t look so bad. But what’s in it for the rest of the country?
And, the blackouts? What a model!
A/C off, appliances unplugged, Lights out and bedtime at 3pm, everybody!
California dreaming!
I dont think she knows whats going on in California.
Has she even been back there to any of the disaster areas?
Rolling blackouts and minimum 50% increase in electricity prices, along with massive job losses, would be the result if the Green New Deal were implemented nationwide. Convince me otherwise.
Yes, right in the middle of an extreme heat wave temps in the central valley up to°111 degrees really good time to shut off power!
Wow. I guess she really is that stupid isn’t she?
Beyond the general idiocy of Kalifornia having rolling blackouts and brownouts; there is the geographical differences between that idiotic state and other states. So no othere states don’t want to be like that dumpster fire known as Kalifornia.
I had the exact same reaction you did...I thought “Wow...it is astonishing just how tone deaf Leftists are.”
Well, even though the article is old, they are still tone deaf!
My wife and I vacationed at a farm up in Vermont a couple of years ago, and the older woman who ran the farm was a real conservative...yes...they do still have them up there.
She had some big solar arrays, and I asked if they were for her own power on the farm, or if the power was just pumped back into the grid (it was) and we got on the subject of the Vermont state government’s energy policy.
Apparently, they have a pie in the sky thing where they are supposed to be 90% renewable energy (by law) by the year 2050, so they have all these plans, and of course, they are anti-nuclear, so they shut down the nuclear reactors in the state. I read an article about their policy...it is stupid. Windmills and solar galore, it is a pipe dream.
Apparently, they must have thought there would be fairy dust or something that would power things when the nuclear power was removed, and they began having issues with power availability. So, this woman describes it to me, and said (with a big grin) they had to purchase power from Canada, some of which was hydroelectric, and some was nuclear in origin...and how the leftists howled about it!
Vermont isn’t California, that is for sure. If they have brownouts in Vermont, the impact is small. Few people, little industry. But California? 40 million people. Lots of industry.

CA ensures that 1/3 of electricity is from renewable sources. Heres how we can make it a model nationwide:
Even Gavin Newsome admitted their green deal wasn’t planned out well enough.
That is surprising.
total of coal, nat gas, renewable electricity, nuclear and imports: 4453.8
Total renewables: 1154.5 (26%)
Average electricity price: 16.6 cents/kWh
Average in the US: 11 cents
Rolling blackouts while suffering from 115+ degree heat.
With the power out, you can’t even turn on a fan.
This is what these Commies want across the nation.
My family’s solution: Solar Power + Solar Battery + Generator.
Best investments we’ve made - and critical since my husband is disabled.
