What’s the problem - I like it!
Dump Windoze and install Linux. Problems solved.
I am going to make one of my older laptops a Linux only box.
The HDD failed a few months ago. It’s an M6700 and in overall good shape.
Live Ubuntu runs on it well.
I’m staying with Win-7 Pro and all the protection Norton 360, MalwareBytes Premium and CCleaner Premiun provide. Win-10 sucks.
What’s your BIOS date?
I am far from computer savvy but when I opened my computer and had to go through the whole introduction thing before I could get anywhere, I wasnt happy. And someone else is usually helping me, no one was here and I didnt know how to answer the questions. Infuriating! I have a change jar to get an Apple product next, if I live that long.
it’s not that difficult to turn off updates on W10 ... there’s a few services that need to be disabled as well as a few tasks ...
as far as the driver issue is concerned, try uninstalling the radeon driver from “Device Drivers” in Control Panel (but don’t delete the driver files themselves) and then immediately install the new driver software ...
That won't be a viable approach for very long.
I don’t know but I could find out .. If I were interested in updating/flashing the bios.
I’m not.
Too many horror stories on doing that! 8-(
Bill Gates strikes again.
Pop for a ssd.
I know this doesn’t help.... but I have been building rigs for a long time. Only 1 AMD. Never again.
There's a headline ya don't see every day.
But that's probably only because Microsoft doesn't update their OS every day...
Actually, I find win 10 much better for graphics and memory management. Sorry.
As I said, You cannot turn off the updates permanently unless you are on a pro or business version of windows 10.
Believe Me, I went around and around on this subject a few years ago and nothing has changed.
Microsoft gives you a number of chances to roll back to your previous version but after that .. You Will be forced into the update.
Keep the hippies away. They will drop some acid and stare at your screen. You’ll never get them to go away.
To install a new software driver of AMD, they clean out all of the old software before the new install.
Heck, after Microsoft has updated and screwed up my graphics, I went and looked.
In the driver section I could find NO version of Any driver and what’s more .. in the driver properties area it said: “This device has been disabled because of conflicts”
This is their own doing!
No apologies needed for me. I agree with you.
