Czech this out:
Věra Bílá
Highly acclaimed, toured internationally and was often called the "Ella Fitzgerald of Gypsy music" or the "Queen of Romany"
Věra Bílá - Suno mange dal

Until reading Steyn’s piece I didn’t realize it was her first recording and that she wasn’t a professional singer. I thought her unusual delivery was her doing some kind of sophisticated, highly intentional minimalism, but in reality the lack of any “singerisms” is because she didn’t have any. But the result is perfect for the song.

I also recall she wasn’t really a speaker of English and that is why her accent is so cute (”youn-GHA”).

Damn. I missed that issue.
Either that, or I was so busy reading the articles, that I totally missed the pictures...

She's had some work done, but it's good work!

Very good work, but the artist had a great canvas to start with.
Given as much time as she spent on tropical beaches, she could have ended up like this:

Here's the Girl from Ipanema this past July and about when the song was written...

Perhaps on on the brigadeiros, but no one says “NO” to pao de queijo...

I'd never heard of brigadeiros until I looked up Brazilian cuisine for the purpose of this thread. I'd never heard of pao de queij until your post. I got curious and these came out of my oven a half hour ago.

Wow - NICE! Did you do this from scratch? You did perfect souffles!
If you enjoy these, I would recommend a quick and easy mix. You can order these from Amazon. It's Yoki Brand Pao De Queijo. We used to live near "Little Brasil" in Boca Raton but since we moved we've had to make it from this or from scratch. This tastes more authentic to us.
Fortunately for us, we found we can buy the mix locally now.
OK, something new for you to try: Guarana Anartica
This is a really nice, subtle (some brands are much too sweet) flavor and really enjoyable.
Our kids were raised on Guarana and Pao De Queijo.
I am really, really happy you are trying it out - I hope you love it! Cheers!
