The fuel efficient airplane is hoped to be a solution for the future of airplanes.
Passengers could one travel in the wings of Flying V planes, which is designed with the cabin, cargo holds and fuel tanks placed along two Vs.
Experts tested a 22.5kg and a 3-metre scale model of the futuristic plane, developed by researchers at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
The successful flight will be a major boost for the hotel anticipated aircraft as it move into the next development stages.
Dutch airline KLM agreed to fund development of the V-shaped aircraft, which could be the norm one day.

An airplane's biggest energy waste now is the bureaucratic parasitic drag. There's even a tax to help pay for the Spanish-American War. (jk)
Prices very accurately reflect total energy consumption, and indirectly CO2 emissions. When airport taxes and fees exceed the airfare, the fuel burn is the least of our energy efficiency problems.

What I see wrong with the concept for a passenger version of the flying wing is turbulence. Youll be bouncing around in that thing like a tennis ball with no flex to absorb the loads.
Good point. In a conventional aircraft the wings absorb much of the turbulence like a dampening spring which reduces the turbulence experienced by passengers in the fuselage.

There’s a very good reason Boeing never built one.

I'll see your wind-up toy and raise you a real v-shaped airplane:
I saw one fly back in '82 when they were working up to bomb the Argies in the Falklands.

Looks like stealth technology in an airliner. Could sneak onto the tarmac without ATC being any wiser. Great idea!

I only know bridge maintenance. A triangle is traditionaly a structural shape used in bridges. Compared to a cylinder....now we need some structural engineers. A modern airplan is a cylinder with a wing spar. A plane like this would be almost like three cylinders connected as a triangle shape. Might be structurally much stronger. Aerodynamics? Beyond me. Size and efficiency? Beyond me. interesting concept.
