Just a thought. If I were troubleshooting your problem the first thing that jumps out at me is the fact that if the monitor is using HDMI than the audio is passed through the same cable as the video signal. It is possible that the loose connection might be the culprit.

I would also check to confirm that the audio settings are configured properly, although they should work right out of the box.

A search on the web said something like there are no desk tops with built in sound. Just laptops and the all in one computers-which was my old one.

My speakers are old, but they still worked on the computer when I took them off to see if they would work. The light won’t even come on when I plugged them in to the speaker dealeo in the back.

I don’t have a clue about configurations. I typed some questions into my screen’s search bar and some diagnostic stuff ran but came up empty.

I am so techno challenged. Thanks.
