That include Michael Graham?

He was a sort of one-and-done guy. Thompson dumped him after one year.

I was at SU when Ewing played for Georgetown. This was 84/85 when Georgetown/SU were battling for the Big East.
I remember standing next to Ewing. I am 5’10”. He was a monster. I mean he was an incredibly large human being. He pushed Rony Seikaly(6’10”) around like a toy.

I worked in events production at the Carrier Dome in my junior and senior year @ SU. This happened after I had worked 24 hours straight. We set up for the Bruce Springsteen Born in the USA tour. I set up for the concert Weds, Thursday. They did sound checks Thursday night. He played to 40K Friday night and Saturday night. I went to the Saturday night show.
After the show was over(11pm), we took everything down and turned the dome into a basketball arena for 37m people. The Orangemen played the Hoya’s on Sunday @ 2pm. I went to the game. Oh, to be 21 again.

Old enough to remember watching Providence Friars on TV as a kid in CT back in the early 60’s via Prov. channel 12 on a Motorola console when John Thompson played there . Local team - UConn - which was just a few miles up the road - didn’t make it to TV in those days . Had to listen to games on a transistor radio - WILI in Willimantic , my hometown .

Danny Ferry was in his backyard and he never tried to recruit him.

When Thompson was coach, I used to think that Georgetown was a black college, based on the composition of the b-ball team.

I met him a couple of times.

He seemed like a decent guy. He helped a bunch of kids. That’s a pretty good epitaph.

May he Rest In Peace.

Never cared for him or his racial views, but agree he shouild rest in peace.

How he coached an Olympic team with a Danny Manning who he micromanaged into zero points is beyond understanding.

There’s no evidence to suggest he was.

I remember that team with Pat Ewing which went up against Dean Smith’s Tarheels - a team which had Michael Jordan, James Worthy and Sam Perkins - and Georgetown fought them down to the wire. RIP.

Georgetown's Fred Brown heard a call to pass the ball--and he did just that--passing the ball to UNC's James Worthy for the win. That was one amazing game and crazy Tar Heel party in Chapel Hill after the buzzer sounded.

John Thompson was a gentleman and a fine coach, winning the NCAA Championship in 1984. RIP.

I loved listening to his commentary during March Madness. Very astute and well-spoken.
