A 79-year-old McCook woman has been charged with first-degree murder and a gun charge for allegedly shooting her husband in the chest as he slept.
Lavetta Langdon was in court Thursday, a week after Larry Langdon's death, and a Red Willow County judge set her bond at $5 million, according to court records.

“The husband is 78 years old and he still physically abuses his wife? Shouldn’t he know better than behave like that?
A sad story...Why didn’t she divorce him again? Why put put up with abuse?”
I will tell you why a woman might, could and probably should kill an abusing old,old husband after years of abuse...it is because no one willingly takes her side...you have no idea how many husbands think their wives deserve everything they “get”. That is the basis and, then, as she ages, she becomes much more frail than he and he keeps it up and she has no one to go to...so she “takes it”. Until one day she kills him recognizing full well she will go to jail and herself be executed. And, guess what, her thought is, very often, “Thank god. This will all be over then.”
Men are much more able to get support as Elders than women...and I think that just goes back to what our society thinks of Elders and especially women.
Interestingly this type of murder is never discussed and never is abuse an “issue”.
She must be a flight risk.
(I am laughing as I type that.)
I also found that improbable.
No, I am not joking.
Oh, for heaven’s sake.
If she told the judge she was a charter member of BLM, they would probably give her a medal, for killing a non woke white dude. 🤯🤮😱
I know you said that tongue in cheek, but......
But, but are you suggesting that someone who would commit murder would lie about it?
Yeah, pretty much.
