Herschel Walker: ‘Losing Friends Has Been a Big Cost’ in Supporting Trump
Breitbart ^ | 26 Aug 2020 | HANNAH BLEAU

Posted on 08/26/2020 4:59:37 PM PDT by conservative98

NFL Legend Herschel Walker, who spoke at the Republican National Convention Monday evening, told USA Today Sports that he has lost friends over his open support for his friend, President Donald Trump.

“Losing friends has been a big cost. I lost some friends, and that’s what’s so strange about it. How could in a country like America you disagree with someone that you now want to injure that person or you just don’t want to talk to them no more?’’ the Heisman Trophy Winner asked. “Where did it get that you become a country like that?’’

Walker also explained how the Democrat Party continues to veer further and further to the left, telling the outlet, “I love the Lord Jesus Christ and when I start seeing the Democratic Party, and I want to say ‘the other party,’ when I start seeing them not want to talk about God and removing God, and then I saw the BLM burning a cross and also burning the Holy Bible and burning a flag, and that’s not something I want to be a part of.”

USA Today Sports took issue with some of Walker’s remarks, contending that he “offered falsehoods and dubious claims about the Democratic Party and the Black Live Matter movement,” despite the stream of evidence of left-wing radicalism within the party and violence in the protests nationwide. Two people were shot and killed and another injured as a result of the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Tuesday night alone.

“It’s a political civil war going on right now. It really is a political civil war and I think it’s not right. I honestly don’t think it’s right, so I’m going to speak the truth,” he declared.

Yes, we lose friends and family. Maybe gain some friends.

The alternative is to embrace slavery, which I’m not going to do.

Mr Walker as a celebrity of sorts has more to lose than me. Maybe some endorsements or commentary jobs or etc.

The cancel culture has always been creeping in from the Left, and then, through the Dims and the media they yell that everyone else is “dividing the country”.

When people, anyone or any group is not going along with the Left, that is when they will trot out their claims that their opponents are “dividing the country”.

We know that all that that really means is there are folks not going along with the Left’s analysis of an issue and not agreeing with their “solutions” either. When we do that, they call us the “dividers”.

I’ve lost some friends over my Trump support too. One was a friend for over 40 years. I realize now they weren’t real friends. Same goes for yours Herschel.

Truth does that. Some hate truth and decency, in addition to be ignorant about facts and reality .

I know exactly where Mr. Walker is coming from. He has done something that I have not had the courage to do. I have not openly admitted that I support President Trump (still love the sound of that!), and I have several childhood friends as well some family that don’t know I support Trump. I imagine they suspect it, but they don’t know it for sure.

Is it right for me to lose lifelong friends or family members because we disagree on some political issues? It isn’t for me, so that why I say nothing controversial. They know I am adamantly pro-life. If I disregarded every other point of contention with Democrats, which I don’t, I can never let go of their unadulterated push for the murder of children in the womb or just outside the womb. I feel the anguish that Mr. Walker does.

I watch some YouTube channels with black supporters of Trump. They give me so much hope for the future because they are grounded in the truth instead of lies.

So happy also to know that the likes of Romney, Kasich, Bushes et al. have seen it fit to be Never-Trump and reveal their true colors. GOP needs new faces with ideas in the Trump mold! Perhaps the first female black President will be...a super conservative Republican!

none of this would be happening if there had been “Losers’ Consent” by the Dems and the FakeNewsMSM when Donald Trump won in 2016.

same Losers’ Consent is missing with Brexit to this day.

as Nigel Farage said:
“For a civilised democracy to work you need the losers consent”

US may be a Republic, but the same applies.

Same here but mostly due to my job. No need to make my life more complicated at work.

Some fiends... Big deal... Just proves that you need to be more careful in the future...

Back in the day, I lost about 200 extended CT family in-laws because I wore Palin stuff...
Years later I lost the remaining in-laws over the MAGA stuff at the Christmas party in CT... In fact I've been permanently dis-invited to any future communist social events...
The weasels have even stopped calling my wife on her birthdays to wish her happy birthday... She is an 81-year old fire-breathing Trump supporter...

Fortunately, all our children, grandchildren, and old-enough great grandchildren are extensively armed MAGA-patriots who despise all communists...

My best friend for 30 years, who was the Godfather of our daughter, cut me off after Bush was elected. Called him a few times for a couple of years, just got the brush off. I then said the hell with it. Was I hurt? No, it was not my fault nor was it my responsibility. Was I disappointed? Very. I thought we could always count on each other.

34 years after the conclusion of his football contract with Donald Trump, they are still friends.

What about the 5 (or more?) NFL owners he played under?
