Illinois teen Kyle Rittenhouse charged in fatal shooting of two Kenosha protesters
A 17-year-old Illinois man has been charged in the shooting death of two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, late Tuesday, according to a report.
Kyle Rittenhouse has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Molly Beck posted on Twitter Wednesday.
He was part of the group of armed men at the scene. We have been identifying them as a local militia group. Rittenhouse hails from Antioch, Illinois about 12 miles away across state lines.

“A seventeen year old man”............
No. Seventeen is not a man. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
I disagree. Its no longer mere rioting. It is insurrection and patriots should be helping their fellow countrymen even if It requires crossing state lines well armed.
Plenty of 17 year-olds fought and died for this country during WWII, many lied about their age.
Tell that to the U.S. Navy; when I enlisted at 17 they called me one of their men.
Interesting. Under age and they release his name?
Not if he was black and had an arrest record back to the age of 4.
After reading the article, my first impression is that this was self-defense. On the other hand, Rittenhouse wasnt from Kenosha or even from Wisconsin. He just showed up there with a rifle. I dont think a jury will look upon that very favorably. He was from 12 miles away, he could have walked it. I have walked 20 on a Boyscout hike.

Then why did he try to turn himself in to the police on the scene -- because suddenly it wasn't an insurrection anymore?
That's what I call a "video-game mindset."
This actually exposes an obvious flaw in the Wisconsin criminal code that should be hammered by the defense in a case like this: a person who is 17 is tried as an adult, but is not legally allowed to carry an AR-15?
Yep. But DA is in s pickle at this moment, and going with the truth would cause more mayhem than sticking this fellow without the uaual justification.
I knew somebody would bring that up.
You were enlisted at that age, and as such you were under constant orders and supervision from older, more experienced males. At seventeen you weren’t in charge of anything. You were being taught manhood. You earned the right to be called a man, it wasn’t handed to you.
That kid was running for the police lines from the get go. Wonder what set the mob after him in the first place? The fellow who initially got shot in the head was obviously trying to corner the kid and hurt him, so there was something that preceded that.
When he was knocked down in the middle of the street and pummeled he reacted very effectively and very suddenly, taking the initiative away from the attackers and stopping the attack decisively and efficiently.
Morally and legally, the kid may be in the right (we’ll see). That said, if this were my son, we’d be having a talk right now about the virtue of prudence. Going into harm’s way is serious business. I would have trouble justifying it when a commensurate cause is not present.
I wish him well, but c’mon, son.
He lives 12 miles from Kenosha, that makes him a local. <
I dont know about that. So Ill play the devils advocate here. Lets say there is unrest in my town. And Im standing in my front yard with a rifle. Or maybe Im standing at the end of my street with a rifle. I think most folks would say that my intentions were honorable.
But now lets say I go to some other town 12 miles away and stand in the street with my rifle. Yes, I have every right to do that. Wisconsin is an open carry state. But are my intentions still as honorable?
Side note: Before anyone yells at me too much, please understand that Im not talking about how I might see it. Im talking about how a jury might see it.

I have walked 10 miles at least 4 times and 20 miles too. It isn’t far if you are committed. And he wasn’t standing in the street he was going to the car lot. He could have been related to the owners, you don’t know. He was attacked and he retreated twice, trust me those aholes would have killed him, they were going to. He did very good totally defensive but a snap shot. I would have him on my group.
Unreal is what it is. This COVID crap has shown me than up to 1/2 of Freepers are big government statists who most definitely are not conservative by any stretch.
Now they think protecting people from rioters is a BAD thing, and if you do, YOU are the bad guy. Utterly unbelievable.
I’d like that information if you get it.
Agreed
Not guilty
The blood of the dead is on the Communist Democrats who've targeted innocent people in their march to spread their illness. The damage done to this young man is on them as well. This young man didn't learn to hate; he tried to protect others from those who do hate.
What were the ages of those who attacked him?
