Can the Big Ten swing an election? Kevin Warren wants to find out

There’s a good chance that the next leader of the United States will emerge from voters in swing states in the Big Ten Conference’s footprint. Five states that President Donald Trump won in 2016 – Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa – were democratic states when Barack Obama won the election in 2012. First-year Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren has made it a priority that the conference’s nearly 10,000 athletes will have a say in that election. Warren is in just his fifth month in charge of the 14-member league, and he’s made it clear with his early actions that social change will be among the league’s priorities. The Big Ten announced a league-wide voter registration initiative on Monday, which will include non-partisan education and a deeper understanding of registration, voting and voter suppression.

Shared the comment below as a vanity earlier but the attached article, while several months old, in the current context is amazing.

While I know some attention has been paid to college football and the decision by the Pac-12 and Big Ten not to play this fall, conservatives haven't put nearly as much pressure on Big Ten governors and university presidents. There is not a more important region of the country than the Big Ten reason when it comes to President Trump being reelected.

You can choose to believe me or not but I have close connections to multiple Big Ten athletic directors. They are furious about the Big Ten's decision not to play football. This decision will cripple their athletic departments for years. All of the Big Ten athletic directors wanted to play, which is pretty well established. What isn't widely known that about half of the Big Ten presidents wanted to play, and nearly the rest were willing to play, with the exception of Northwestern and Michigan. The UM president, Mark Schlissel, is an epidemiologist by background. Those two presidents pushed through the decision and the Big Ten athletic directors were completely left out of the decision-making process.

New Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren, who came to the Big Ten from the Minnesota Vikings with no college administration experience, "represented" the athletic directors. The AD at Northwestern was on the search committee that hired Warren. This is very inside knowledge but Warren had been demoted with the Vikings. He was no longer doing contracts because he kept messing them up and he was demoted to handling the scheduling of banquets. I kid you not.

Governor Whitmer came out yesterday and doubled down on the decision not to play football. Can you imagine being the President of the University of Michigan and the governor of the state of Michigan and being so opposed to playing football? The governor is really vulnerable in this area and conservatives need to continue to attack her on this issue.

The Big Ten had announced its revised scheduled for the fall and then pulled the plug after a study was released claiming the potential for myocarditis increasing as a result of Covid. Yesterday, I study was released refuting this report. Even earlier in the week University of Michigan cardiologist Venk Murthy and head of Mayo Clinic genetic cardiologist Michael Ackerman said that date was incorrect. In the study that was released today, it was learned that a significant portion of COVID-recovered have abnormal heart scans but, in comparison to "risk factor-matched" controls, there was no statistically significant difference.

In another twist, the Big Ten commissioners son is playing this year at Mississippi State. So he feels comfortable enough to have his son play in the SEC, but the league that he leads and is destroying isn't playing.

Link the governor of Michigan and the president of the University of Michigan and pound them with the the fact that this is all about politics, and certainly not science.

Long over due? So the 60’s didn’t happen. My church didn’t partner with a black church? MLK is just a past icon that you current civil leaders don’t care about? This is not about equality any more it’s about who has power.

I can’t believe this is going to sell well in Big 19 country - particularly as they watch the Big 12, ACC and most especially the SEC play.

Democrats are the party of lockdowns. Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Pennsylvania are all in play. Unfortunately the Illini suck too much for people in Illinois to care.

Governor Whitmer went to Michigan State so if she can hurt the University of Michigan Football she will. She is a fake Michigander. No appreciation for the lakes, dams, or outdoor life traditions and contemptible arrogance toward the upper Peninsula.

Kevin Warren was a freshman when I was a senior in high school. He has two well-known (or maybe ex) brothers in law. One was John Pitts and the other John Shumate. Pitts came to work for the bank I was working at in the late ‘70’s or early ‘80’s and I did his banking orientation. I also went to high school with Shumate’s wife. She was a cheerleader.

Interesting to read in the news people you went to school with...seems like yesterday but in reality, it was over 40 years ago.

EVERY student who registers to vote in college should demand, and receive IN-STATE tuition. After all, they are certifying the ARE citizens eligible to vote.

College Administrators and Presidents = Libtards.

These states were already being delivered to Trump. This will only help. Dictators making decisions against the will of the players, their families, the coaches, fans with no discussion or explanation.

Which party does this sound like??? Stevie Wonder can see the answer.
