The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has changed its Covid-19 testing guidelines. The agency no longer recommends testing for most people without symptoms, even if theyve been in close contact with someone known to have the virus.
Previously, the CDC said viral testing was appropriate for people with recent or suspected exposure, even if they were asymptomatic.
Heres what it says now: If you have been in close contact (within 6 feet) of a person with a COVID-19 infection for at least 15 minutes but do not have symptoms, you do not necessarily need a test unless you are a vulnerable individual or your health care provider or State or local public health officials recommend you take one.
CDC says its current best estimate is that 40% of infections are asymptomatic and 50% of transmission occur before symptoms occur.
US Department of Health and Human Services denied the change would affect contact tracing efforts, which most public health officials say is key to any eventual control of the virus. The updated guidance does not undermine contact tracing or any other types of surveillance testing, the spokesperson said.
HHS said people should consult with their doctors or with local health officials to decide if they need to be tested.

It appears the KungFlu thing is falling apart.
This will kill the infection rate by eliminating all the false positives on people who have no symptoms. In our county the actual infection rate is at most half of what the reported rate is because of the false positives and the number of people counted multiple times because they are reported as a new case each time they get tested.
Weve been telling people that anyway but some just want to
I’m wondering if the CDC is providing ‘Rat govs cover so they can give up on the lockdowns and travel bans, then move on to the next coup attempt.
Would you go get an X-ray if you don't hurt anywhere to warrant getting one?
About time. The virus is so widespread that contact tracing makes no sense.
The Democrats know they need schools open fast. They will lose in November if schools arent open and private schools are fine. The educational inequality will last decades with huge differences in instruction and reinforcement.
I won't hold my breath. Besides, my mask will suffocate me just as easily.

“Would I lie”?
That's a strong possibility. Or, they could also be feeling the "winds of change" blowing, and are trying to get out in front of the imminent collapse of the "plan-demic" before they get run over by it.
Most likely of all, though, is that it's some combination of the two.
My brother-in-law tested positive for ‘rona. Fatigue, low grade fever and intestinal distress for 10 days. My sister lived with him, cared for him, drove his to the doctor and even slept in the same bed. She never got symptoms. If she was positive, she didn’t know it. She has been a teacher for 40 years. She must have had some immunity.
My husband and I were at the Mayo Clinic two weeks ago for follow up care. During the appointment the doctor mentioned he had been working along side a colleague who had just tested positive for the virus. However, the clinic’s policy was that only those in contact with a person testing positive two days prior to the appearance of symptoms needed to be also tested. He had been with the other doctor four days ahead of him getting ill (which was only a slight sore throat and no fever). Given the Mayo Clinic’s reputation, we thought this was quite a difference from the two week isolation policy in our own state. Now it seems as though the CDC was already working on this policy change.
This is very good news indeed because it indicates that persons who are asymptomatic are not as contagious as previously thought.
One of our crazy neighbors has been convinced he has had Covid for months and has had dozens of tests along with "quaranteening" himself and his girlfriend for weeks at a time. They even managed to get themselves tested multiple times in April when typically only celebrities, politicians and healthcare workers could get tested. Maybe they have been helping to keep the positive test rate ratio down, although you would think that one of them would have at least gotten a false positive by now. In our state every time a person tests positive, they count it as a "new case" even if they have been tested multiple times previously. But alas the accounting methods being used strangely only seem to make things look worse, so they probably do filter out crackpots like my crazy neighbor. The rate of deaths from all causes has been dropping since the middle of April. We are told repeatedly that deaths from all causes are up 10% this year, yet Covid related deaths even with authorities repeatedly caught calling gun shot victims, motorcycle accidents, etc. etc. make up less than 10% of the total. At least half of the increase is from a large increase in the suicide rate, and people not seeking treatment for the real killers, heart disease, cancer, lung disease, stroke, etc. because they are afraid to go to the doctor or hospital from all the media hype. This is not to mention that elective surgeries to treat these statistically more serious killers were unavailable this year in many places.

On this chart change the count from Covid Deaths to Total Deaths to see what I am talking about:
I never understood why healthy people would get the test in the first place.
The asymptomatic are obviously less contagious that previously thought. But you are making the mistake of assuming that the authorities actions are based on common sense and not political calculation.
My wife is a Stage Four cancer patient there. She was supposed to go in for scans in April. They told her not to come, too dangerous. She finally was allowed to go in late June.
I am glad they have seen the fraud for what it is, finally.
How many patients have died because they couldn’t go for scans and treatments which allowed the cancer to progress to an untreatable level?
