FACT
I agree. It doesn't mean their cause was a good one.
If nothing else, our exposure to Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy in 2015 should tell us that "serving your country honorably" shouldn't require anyone to go fight a half-assed war in a Third World sh!t-hole just because a bunch of @ssholes in Washington think it's a good idea.
“You guys do remember Ali pissing on America by refusing to serve when he was drafted, right?”
Was too young at the time, heard about it later. As conservative as I remember my late father to be, he was five years older and hated the Vietnam war, and didn’t fault Ali.
Dad hated Walter Cronkite.
I recall watching a couple of his last fights with my dad on our still b/w little tv, and hearing how great a fighter he used to be.
Cool!
I discovered 30 years ago that Bobby Thomson was living at a golf course in Savannah Ga, so I wrote and asked for his autograph, and he sent it to me.
I have some other great autographs, but none I obtained from that generation, and nothing more since their called third strike, and my subsequent loss of interest in MLB.
I watched his last no-hitter on TV on May 1, 1991, and have his autograph on his baseball card. :)
“I quit watching baseball when the strike happened. Before that I walked, talked, and lived baseball. “
Same here. I let them have two first. I still play softball, except for the local Nazis this year.
Ted Williams...

Nolan was one of my favorite players of all time. Great all around guy.
Why did he change his name?
I can only guess. 8>)
Perhaps he was related to Eva Braun?
