Skepticism about the Bannon Indictment
American Thinker ^ | 24 Aug, 2020 | Benjamin Wetmore

could barely contain her glee at the news that Steve Bannon is being indicted by the Southern District of New York on a variety of fraud allegations related to fundraising for “We Build the Wall,” telling USA Today that “no one needed an indictment to know that Steve Bannon is a fraud.” But a close reading of the indictment shows that the politicization of the DOJ by elements of the radical left has been its own long-running fraud.

A good friend of mine and former employer, Congressman Steve Stockman, received a federal ten-year prison sentence for crimes he did not commit, in a trial that was a circus. He received horrible legal counsel at trial because most federal criminal defense attorneys are not prepared for a political trial. Similarly, Gen. Michael Flynn pled guilty on the advice of counsel to crimes he did not commit due to a setup that uncovered notes now revealed was instigated by former President Obama while in office, and he struggles now simply to have the charges dismissed even though the prosecutors are on his side. The federal judicial process is so broken for defendants caught in its web that it often seems to even the innocent that the only option is to accept any plea.

The plea rate in federal criminal cases is 95%, the conviction rate for the few cases that go to trial is similarly around 95%. The conviction rate in the Soviet Union was only four points higher.

I do not know what happened, but if Bannon was a DemocRAT he could get awat with anything.

What happened was they charged Bannon for ‘crimes’ that are nothing but differing IRS interpretations of expenses.

They collected a ton of money, they needed to devote time and effort to manage it, and can legally and legitimately get paid and reimbursed for their efforts.

If they disagree the normal course of action is administrated fine. The DOJ did this? Where is Barr?

I expect the charges will be dismissed and nothing more than a fine.

Exactly, but only after they do their best to bankrupt him and his colleagues.

His greatest threat, as a highly ranked political enemy of the CCP is spending more than a few hours in Jail.

These people should be taken down hard for political prosecution/persecution. Where is Barr?

Umm, keep in mind the indictment is coming out of the southern district of New York. Same one that’s after Trump.

There can be no doubt that the SDNY prosecutors are looking for a political scalp, Steve Bannon. Unfortunately for Bannon, he has handed them a shut and closed case on a silver platter.

No, they actually can’t, because they repeatedly promised to donors that “not a penny” would go to the head of the organization. Not only did he end up with hundreds of thousands, but there is a string of interstate communications with them scheming how to hide the payments with shell organizations.

THat’s something completely different. If they hadn’t made those express promises, they could have received what they did and more.

That doesn’t mean that this isn’t a political hit job. Notable is that Bannon recently threatened to expose those who sold out our country to China illegally, “starting with Henry Kissinger”. That smelly old Kraut is still apparently massively influential in corrupt globalist schemes.

So much for Barr being a good guy and cleaning house in "his own house" aka the DoJ. The US Attorneys can be fired at will and without cause naturally but the AG needs a stiff backbone to fade the heat from the liberal media and liberal Congress when he does what needs doing but that's what an AG is hired on to do among other things, clean house.

Perhaps Barr really can't walk and chew gum at the same time after all. This is certainly part of Trumps legacy, piss poor choices that he has made for 4 years to fill cabinet positions and other high level spots with people who continue to stab him in his back. So go ahead and trash away because what I said, the truth hurts someones feelings.

The defense should show the significant wall construction that was completed and the the legal and PR expenses that were required by the board members. Also, the board included important and known Conservatives like Gov. Kris Kobach who could testify to the legitimacy of the spending.

But the real focus for the jury should be on the immense sacrifice and dedication that Brian Kolfage made as a triple amputee and war vet to support the country he fought for by realizing his dream to fund the critical sections of the boarder wall he did. This was what inspired his fellow vet Bannon to get involved and help him with his entrepreneur experience. If the jury understands this history and love of country they will see past the SDNY’s cynical fraud case.

What are you referring to?

Do I believe that they are accurately publishing the info from the DoJ? Yes, I do.
